Fresno State '09 TX QB Derek Carr (Fresno State Verbal)

Rivals Profile

Sugar Land (TX) Clements

Ht: 6-3
Wt: 195 lbs
40: 4.8 secs
GPA: 3.0

Statistics:
(Passing) 1,622 yards, 60 % completions, 17 TD's, 8 INT's

2nd Team All District (Sophomore)

Note: Brother of Former #1 NFL Draft Pick QB David Carr
Could be transferring to Bakersfield Christian

Interest: Notre Dame, Miami, Wisconsin, Stanford, Utah (offered)

Video Analysis: Unlike his brother has a textbook release point. Like his brother his delivery is virtually effortless. Can make all the throws, especially able to throw on the run with ease. Has an excellent arm. Somewhat mobile for a QB, although probably won't be a big running threat. Needs to gain a substantial amount of weight. Destined to be a high major quarterback with his skills and name recognition.

Derek Carr to follow in brother's footsteps at Fresno State
ESPN 150 Watch List quarterback Derek Carr, brother of former Bulldogs trigger-man and No. 1 overall selection in the NFL Draft David Carr, has committed to Fresno State over offers from Utah and SMU, writes the Sacramento Bee.
Derek said, "It feels right - it feels like home. I'm definitely a Bulldog. I spent a lot of time growing up at Fresno State. It's the little things. It was awesome to be around. I want to be around it some more."

ESPN's Tom Luginbill said of the news, "Carr is going to be a late-bloomer with good overall skills and a snappy, quick delivery. He can make all the throws, is a good athlete, a good ball handler, but is still developing strength and bulk to his frame."
"Like his brother, he does tend to have somewhat of a low delivery point, but he can get rid of the ball in a hurry which arguably is something you can't teach."
"This is the typical guy that the top mid-major programs love to take. Fresno St. and Boise St. have had great success with quarterbacks that others passed on that end up being very productive two to three years down the road."
"Carr may very well be one of those guys and Fresno State already had great success with his brother David. Carr is a very good fit for the Bulldogs' scheme and his best football is ahead of him which is what Fresno State is counting on."

Carr passed for a combined 2,868 yards and 28 touchdowns over the last two seasons.
