Seems to be a solid tackler, something we need badly.

Brandon received an offer from Miami but says he is solid to Wisconsin and the Badgers will receive his only visit.

I don't see him leaving, but you never know. I think this will put Doeren to the test to see how good of a recruiter he actually is. I hope he sees how favorable the UW depth chart is and that he will be given a chance to compete for a starting spot as either a soph or a RS frosh.
Also of note, the U already has 4 lb commits this season.

Marti had a very good Senior season and there have been very good things said about him since, and it really shouldn't be much surprise that Miami has come calling as they showed bits of interest throughout the process, seeming to let his Senior season play out before jumping into the picture. When he got healthy this year he proved he was worth the offer IMO. I don't think he'll be leaving, and it sounds like he'll enroll early.

I love it when guys enroll early. We have multiple in this class, including Curt Phillips. More often than not it's an early indicator that they are dedicated and hard workers, determined to improve. Sometimes both on and off the field (Landingham).

I had elevated hopes for Landingham upon learning he was planning to enroll early. He really had ample opportunity to overtake Pleasant, who was underwhelming, for the SS job, but unfortunately he wasn't able to succeed at that goal. Ultimately if you're immature physically upon enrollment, football wise it doesn't matter. I think at Marti's current weight (after gaining a substantial amount even), he's not well equipped to play early at Wisconsin. But at the very least early enrollment indicates he won't be a grade risk.

I am a smidgen surprised that Marti received a Miami offer in spite of his season. He doesn't seem like a big time player, but the Hurricane program is in disarray. Over a third of their commitments are reconsidering and taking other visits. Including four linebackers. This might be the reason for his offer. In previous years I'd imagine he'd be an instant decommit, but now he has something to think about. That Miami team showed no character in their blowout loss during their Orange Bowl farewell a couple weeks ago.

I don't think that early enrollment is an indicator that they are physically ready to contribute or start, but I think it's a great indicator of a player's work ethic both on and off the field when he says that he wants to enroll early and looks forward to spring practice. He wants to get up here, play with the team and improve. But no, it is not an indicator that he will be ready to contribute.

I had similar hopes for Landingham. It didn't work out for him. I still reserve a little hope that as time goes on and Brown, Clay continue to emerge and Hill, Smith stay with the program that they'll give Quincy another look at Safety. In all honesty, I hope he redshirts next year. I think it's the course of action he should pursue unless he emerges at SS this off season.

EDIT: By the way, I dressed up as Charlie for Halloween. Didn't take much - look like I haven't showered in a month, wear holey jeans and a Paddy's T. My "prop" was the lyrics to Nightman.

Marti de-committed from Wisconsin and in turn instantly committed to Miami.

I wish him the best of luck and congratulations to him on going to his dream school. It will be interesting to see if we use the new scholarship which has opened up, on a linebacker or another position.

I personally think he will be a decent football player, and was pretty happy to have him on board. However, it did not fill a major need, and he cannot be considered a "can't miss" type of player. To be honest, unless some of the committed Miami backers leave (some probably will, how many is the question), I doubt he will ever break through the depth chart. Best of luck to Brandon at Miami.

I would definitely trade him for Futch. Lets make a swap...

Supposedly Futch's commitment is firm and he's even recruiting other players. I agree though about Miami's backers, how could they keep all 7? I'm sure 1-2 will play other positions, but still the remaining 5-6 would be excessive, regardless of their depth chart situation.

We were on McCray earlier as well.

The former Wisconsin commitment was charged with battery and false imprisonment earlier this year and eventually got kicked off the Hurricanes. Which is saying something considering their traditionally low character standards. The Badgers dodged a bullet here.
