tidbits:
axed Oregon from his list and Badgers are part of final 3 according to the Rocky Mountain News

Ponderosa High School linebacker Jon Major, the state's top prospect, told Rivals.com he will announce his choice of colleges Saturday. Major, who has narrowed his list of schools to CU, Oklahoma and Wisconsin, has been a regular sideline attendee at Buffs home games since making his official visit to Boulder.

according to the Denver Post his top two are Oklahoma and Colorado, no mention of Badgers. Hopefully an oversight.

Prime choice and awards: Jon Major, the highly touted
linebacker at Ponderosa in Parker, will reveal his college choice on Saturday. It will be the day after his final regular-season game, against Douglas County. At 5-3 overall and in the Class 5A Continental League, the Mustangs are assured of a spot in the 32-team postseason bracket. With more than 50 offers, Major is considering Colorado and Oklahoma. Also, heading into his team's game Friday against Overland, Mullen's Caleb Pavy has 249 points as a place-kicker. He needs seven more to surpass Broomfield's Kevin Eberhart as Colorado's all-time leader.

I just think that if he was going to choose CU, he would have done it already. Most in state guys seem to know early in the recruiting game if they want the in state school (exceptions with states that have multiple BCS programs). I would love to say UW, but if I were a betting man I would have to say OU.

While in state commits have a greater incident rate of deciding early, it's hardly a sure thing. Especially when we're talking about your more ballyhooed, highly coveted recruits. Case in point John Clay, Joe Thomas, Travis Beckum, and Lance Kendricks. There's simply more options to contemplate for recruits and you don't want to regret settling on the in state school later. It would have been illogical for Major to commit to the Buffs prior to the season, but now there is a clearer picture in Boulder under Hawkins. Therefore, Colorado is my prediction. However, I think anyone who claims he's a lock anywhere is probably lying.

Jon Major commits to Buffs

Quote:
Parker - Jon Major, widely considered the state's top football recruit, announced early Saturday morning that he has pledged to Colorado's Buffaloes.
Major, a 6-foot-4, 230-pound linebacker at Ponderosa, made his intentions known through email; he earlier indicated he wasn't a press-conference-type person, although he probably will have to get used to it quickly.
With more than 50 offers, Major could have opted to play in any major conference (he also has a 3.7 grade-point average).
Major and his Mustangs teammates finished their Class 5A regular season Friday night and will take a 5-4 record into next weekend's 32-team playoff bracket.
Planning to sign with the Buffs in eary February, Major also represents the second consecutive year CU Coach Dan Hawkins has secured the top in-state recruit. A year ago, Columbine offensive lineman Ryan Miller, an All-American, turned down Notre Dame in favor of the Buffs. A native of Newport Beach, Calif., Major is an aspiring chef.

2nd prize doesn't mean much at the top out of state football prospect fair, yet we've often had to accept that hollow victory as Badger fans the last few years, and especially this year.

I am surprised that he chose Colorado after reading about his recruitment heavily. The whole time emphasis seemed to be placed elsewhere, and when they talked about what he wanted from a school, Colorado hardly fit the measurements. I think this is a case of simply being a fan all his life and the so-called living a dream out scenario. I am not completely sure that this will stand, as Colorado's current hot streak could easily cool down and Oklahoma's linebacker situation could shake itself out. However, at this point, there seems to be no more hope for the Badgers. I always knew he was a long shot, but hopes and dreams kept me excited. I wish him nothing but the best at CU, and hopefully he has a fine college career.
