He possesses adequate height and a wiry frame that will need to add major bulk to remain productive in his current possession style at the next level. Displays soft, large hands and extends well away from his frame for the grab. Excels at positioning himself properly on the jump ball and attacks the football at its highest point. Sound concentration and good body control for a possession receiver. Precise route runner who has a feel for finding the open spots in coverage. Sharp and crisp out of his breaks on short-to-intermediate routes. Shows good sideline awareness and is a savvy route runner. After the catch he can be slippery to wrap up with his wiry frame, fluid hips and above average lateral quickness. However, he is not overly elusive in space and lacks great top-end speed; does not project much better than a possession receiver at the next level. In that role he will still need to build up his frame to beat the press off the line and avoid being rerouted; an area he struggles with at times on film. Burst out of breaks and speed at the top of his stem are not strong areas and could make separation difficult versus faster college defensive backs. With that said, Vernon adjusts well to the difficult throw and comes down with most ball thrown in his area. Difficult matchup in the red-zone with his size, savvy play and competitiveness. Under the radar prospect who could develop into a big catch possession receiver in a supporting role. Improved speed and breakout senior season could see recruiting heat up.

Wake Forest and Duke were the most recent to offer. He'll be camping at those two schools, in addition to Wisconsin and Auburn. Is intrigued by the proposition of being a package deal with 3 other Gulliver Prep members, but it doesn't seem like a primary factor for him.

From the Duke site. Committed to Duke. Connor says he felt as though he couldn't beat the education he can get at Duke, and loved the new staff. Duke has always been on top, and he is glad to have the process over with.

Leading talent laden Dane County in receptions and TD's. Wisconsin, Ole Miss, and Vandy are all listing as having offered Vernon at this point, and are trying to persuade him to visit, but he's too solid to Duke.
Bielema really screwed up the Vernon recruitment. I've been touting Vernon since I knew he was identified as a Badger prospect, but it took Coach B too long to offer. Vernon was really interested in the Badgers early and wanted to camp in Madison but they didn't show him adequate respect until it was too late. Looks like another crappy wide receiver class for Bucky. If Henry Mason was still active I wonder if he would have urged Bielema into offering earlier.

If Mason was here we would likely have Appleton or Hawthorne in the fold. I do like Duckworth though
