Diminutive in size which is a concern versus today's taller receivers, but he players bigger and more physical on the field. Employed in a lot of nickel and dime pressure packages showing good blitzing and attacking skills off the edge. Great first-step quickness and acceleration. Sells out his body and initial quicks in the short-area allows him to pack the punch of a much bigger defender. As a pass defender, he closes the cushion fast in zone schemes showing good quickness and explosion out of his pedal. Smooth movement skills, loose hips and great lateral foot-quickness allows him to mirror receivers effectively in off-man and shadow tightly in and out of their breaks. Good transitional quickness and deceptively stong plant and drive skill supporting on the perimeter. Pursues well through traffic and has a great nose for the football. Good tackler and is very sound breaking down in the open field. However, he often appears quicker than fast and struggles recovering when beat on vertical routes. Ability to press and reroute bigger college WRs is a concern as well. Overall, Trice may be limited to certain schemes at the next level but this kid can certainly play and add depth in a variety of packages. Might be better suited in underneath zone schemes with his ability to set the edge versus the run and quickly jump routes defending the pass. Great coverage skills in the kicking game add to his upside.

Talks about how Marcus made the tough decision to stay in Texas with his two friends, while his mother moved to St. Louis in order to attend to a sick relative.
Wisconsin offered. Marcus will be open to everyone that offers. He also likes Kansas, where he'd have a teammate in Daymond Patterson.

Received a couple new offers in Baylor and UTEP. Tulsa is the team to beat right now, followed by Kansas and Baylor. Would like to make a commitment before his senior year. Is being recruited as an athlete by most.

From the A&M site. Trice says that his heart more than makes up for his size, and that his knowledge of the game is his strength. He is wide open, but singles out Tulsa as a school that he is very interested in.

Trice received 2 additional offers when Arizona and Vanderbilt jumped on board. Kansas and Kansas State could be soon to follow. Doesn't have any purported favorites. Will visit schools in the Missouri general area. Wants to decide before senior season.

Marcus Trice says one reason that Wisconsin is at tops his list is because they are recruiting him the hardest. "They stand out right now because they are recruiting me so much," Trice said. "They send me mail every day and I get something from all the coaches. I really love the Big Ten and Wisconsin is a very prestigious program. They have a good history of winning..."

Short feature about Trice from a couple weeks ago courtesy of Chevy Prep Ticket:
Stock Soaring for Marcus Trice - Chevrolet's PrepTicket
Very likable, charismatic kid. Of note I think is that he measured 5'9.5" at a camp setting, however he himself claims he's only 5'8" (as does his myspace page). That's the only time I can remember an athlete under-selling his own height.

Not much has changed recently with his recruitment. Still likes UW, plans on a decison sometime during his senior season, and would love a package deal with the Taylor twins.

"(The University of Minnesota) didn't really compare," UW Kicker Taylor Mehlhaff said. "I loved the atmosphere here. It was pretty easy to cross (Minnesota) off the list. I wanted to play at the highest level possible but I also wanted to have that college atmosphere."

I know we havent even shown intrest in the other Taylor but did we offer Darnell? If he wants to come here the three way package may be a pipe dream

The other Taylor has yet to receive an offer from anywhere, including Tulsa. We are even in the package department, for now anyways
