Top 3 is Wisconsin, Kansas, and Kansas State. Will likely officially visit all three. Recently took an unofficial to Wisconsin and was thoroughly impressed by facilities and Dave Doeren.

Right now, I’d have to say that my top two schools are Kansas (Co-DC/Safeties coach Clint Bowen) and Kansas State (LB/Special Teams Coordinator),Zlatnik said before adding, And, Wisconsin (Co-DC Dave Doeren) is up there too. So, I guess you could say that those are my top three.

A choppy article that is hard to follow, slanted toward the state of Kansas, in particular Kansas State

Rivals Zlatnik, Pegram among state's top prospects

Zlatnik, who plays both tight end and defensive end for Rossville, more than likely will stick to defense in college. And Crabtree said he expected big things from the Big Dawg.
"He's just nasty, maybe that's the best way to describe him, but it's in a good way," Crabtree said. "I really think that Duane's easily one of the best players in the state, and when his motor's on, he's one of the best defensive ends in the Midwest."............

This is an instance where I'm not opposed to "negative recruiting". I'm not a huge fan of that phrase because that casts a very wide net. I'm not condoning lying and manipulating. I'm advocating appealing to recruits so they come to the senses, and get a dose of reality. If we compare and contrast the Kansas and Wisconsin programs, there is no comparison.
Kansas is 10-0 in 2007, big deal. The Jayhawks are following a season where they had a record of 6-6, and didn't even make a trip to a bowl game. This instant success reeks of flukishness. They haven't faced off against Oklahoma and Missouri yet; the two best teams in a mediocre major conference. Nebraska is scuffling this season and their program is in shambles. This would constitute a down year for Texas, and the Hawks haven't even played them. We haven't seen what will occur when they finally play their first legit bowl game in recent memory. By the same token they haven't been relevant in recent memory. Wisconsin has been relevant since practically this group of 2008 recruits were born. The Badgers have had several superb defenses over that span. What success the Jayhawks have accomplished this season has been primarily on offense.
If someone is a recruit from Kansas, and they are a die hard Jayhawk fan, whose primary motivation is to play close to home, then consider Kansas. Otherwise, there's no comparison to a school like Wisconsin, and anybody believing otherwise is being short-sighted.

Zlatnik commits to Kansas.
I have to admit that I really wanted this guy. He looks like a very solid talent and filled a major need for the Badgers. Looks like Kansas' recent success probably swayed his decision.

Me as well Heavy.
I think Kansas proved my point last night against Missouri. They were getting tattooed before the Tigers reverted to a prevent shell defense. They were able to go through the entire season without facing Oklahoma or Texas. Plus they don't play anyone out of conference. I think if they play a couple of those tougher teams earlier in their season, their confidence is derailed and it effects them in other games. They'll get further exposed in their bowl game when they step out of conference. And probably return to a team hovering around .500 again next year. Wisconsin a proven team over 15 years, with a favorable depth chart; I just don't get why more D-Linemen aren't taking seriously. Dammit Hawthorne. It's not like we supplied him with the weed.

You might chalk it up as a rookie mistake, but Zlatnik, the former Rossville star, is in his second year at Kansas having redshirted the 2008 season and is drawing unsolicited praise from coach Mark Mangino.
"One of the guys that's made a lot of improvement from last year is Duane Zlatnik," Mangino said. "He is a guy, just a freshman last year, feeling his way through. We're hoping he's gonna be in that rotation and really help us."
Zlatnik arrived Lawrence not knowing whether he would play defensive tackle or defensive end.
"I'm definitely settled in as a defensive tackle, now," he said. "I've got the size of a defensive tackle now, and I don't really feel like losing much weight."
Zlatnik is listed at 303 pounds, although he said he weighs "about 290," which, either way, is a little heftier than he was in high school when he wrestled in the 285-pound class.
He said he didn't expect to be in the rotation this season.
"I kind of just came here not really knowing what to expect," Zlatnik said. "It just kind of proves hard work pays off."
