I kind of forum hopped and read general information about Barnes and he is the real deal. However, it seems that he is an early Iowa State lean. He lives in Ames, ISU was the first to offer, his dad went there, he wears ISU gear all the time, etc. However, his dad does not want him to commit early, and wants him to weigh all his options. This reminds me of another Iowa product who's dad was a prominent alum of the local college. JBo managed to leave state and climb aboard, so I would definitely say Barnes is in play. I like how we offered early and if we stay on him, you never know. Forward him the "Soulja Bo" video lol

Talks about the national interest Barnes is gathering. Wants to visit UW sometime in the summer.

Harrison Barnes dad played for Iowa State, so hopefully he goes there. He also goes to almost all the ISU games and sits w/ the players. He also scrimmages w/ ISU players in the offseason.

Breaks down Barnes AAU team. Mentions several things about him, one of which is that he is a 4.0 student

NY2LA Sports: Barnes Set to Explode
4/11

If last weekend's performance at the 2008 Swish & Dish Spring Warm-Up was a preview of what's to come, expect 6'7" SF Harrison Barnes of Ames, Iowa to become one of the hottest prospects in the country by the end of the spring. Following right in the footsteps of last year's breakout performance by 6'7" Jamil Wilson of Racine, Wisconsin, Barnes should become one of if not the single hottest commodity in the Midwest for the Class of 2010 very quickly (continued).....

Harrison scrimmages weekly with the Iowa State basketball team, is really good friends with assistant coach Jean Prioleau, and is very good friends with player Lucca Staiger. His dad also played at Iowa State. Sources close to the situation say Harrison wants to go to Iowa State, or a school that is in yearly contention for the national title. (Duke, NC)I don't think that Wisconsin has much of a chance at him, but if you guys get him, you're getting one heck of a player.

I've heard the reports that he bleeds Cyclone maroon and butt ugly yellow (not trying to be antagonistic, I just think those unis look like vomit)...but sorry...I just have a hard time believing a top 50 or so recruit will go to Ames until I see it.
I think Wisconsin has a niche in Barnes' recruitment. He's playing in a state with nothing remotely close to a powerhouse basketball school, he's from the midwest, and he reportedly plays a disciplined style similar to the Badgers. I'd liken his situation to Joe Krabbenhoft's.
From all the reports, Barnes is an intelligent guy. If he picks Iowa St., Wisconsin, or whoever; it will probably be a measured, well researched decision. And the recipient of his services will be very lucky. Either way, like Troy alluded to, 2010 is the best in state Wisconsin class since the first couple at least of this century; so we'll be covered.
Hey, how do they like Milwaukee's own Diante Garrett in Ames? The Badgers nearly offered and I was impressed with his skills in high school. The only issue was physical development.

Actually, Iowa State is modifying there colors to something that looks better. Diante Garrett was extremely weak when he came to Iowa State, but he came on really strong at the end of the season. Harrison's Mom works for Iowa State, and he went to 15 of the 19 home games. (Stalker, I know) He is seen as the must-get recruit for the current coaching staff.
