Thanks for your info Troy. That is the best news I have heard in a while. Also good news that we are staying on Rodney. I think this season should be a good recruiting tool for 2009 since we were suppose to be down. If we only have 3 schollies, maybe we should slow play Brusewitz

Sounds to me from the article on rivals that the "Bruiser" is only a few weeks away from committing to Wisco. How do you guys feel about Bo offering a schollie to him and not waiting for any answers from the more "high-profile" guys like Williams and Wilson? Are we giving out schollies too fast and not holding out on these really talented players?

IMO, if we get bruiser we will stop recruiting Prosser. That still leaves Taylor/Williams and White/Wilson, and obviously a lot of others

Perhaps the offer to the Bruiser will speed up Prosser's decision process in a similar fashion that IL sped up Griffey's with an offer to Cooley......? UW might be using the same strategy....or perhaps they want him as much as they want Prosser and would be happy with either. I wish Prosser would just commit already. I like that kid.
Haha....I can never remember how to spell his name....so I am going with the "Bruiser". I figure everyone who is informed will know who I am referring to.

Gopherhole Interview (free)
2/29
by Nadine Babu
Now says he doesn't possess a Wisconsin offer at this time, but is pretty sure it will come in the future. Then goes on to say Wisconsin is recruiting him amongst the hardest. Doesn't make sense since he doesn't have an offer. Denies rumours alluding to his grade problems and says academics are a key to his decision. Father thinks Rodney's athleticism is a better fit within Minnesota's style than Wisconsin's (everything I've heard from unbiased parties confirms this statement). Likes the atmosphere at Wisconsin.

Im not liiking our chances even if he gets an offer with his father seemingly trying to push him towards Minny. He really seems to like it in Madison tho so we will see.

Minneapolis Star Tribune 2/29
Williams Jr. scored 22 points, with 6 dunks; but it wasn't enough as his Cooper squad was ousted by Benilde St. Margaret, led by Wisconsin signee Jordan Taylor's 27 points.

Rivals: Day one of the Kingwood

Only saw a couple minutes of the Howard Pulley game, but what I did see was Rodney Williams dominating Dee Giger on the defensive end. Looking strong and even more athletic, Williams blocked three consecutive shots by Giger and threw in a 360 dunk on the other end. At this point Williams has my vote for the best leaper in the class.
|
In addition to playing great defense, Williams also scored 16 points (7/14).
