Jenkins wants a UW offer to come in person, and expects to visit Madison.
We could use another outside sharpshooter, although I hope he gets his shot off quicker than Bohannon.

Just to make myself look smarter - Bohannon's shot has gotten a lot quicker lately
Anyways - some blogger put Jenkins 6th in the state of KY for 09
Jody Demling - Recruiting
IMO, ikt might be best to let this play out a little bit with two spots remaining

why does this guy have an offer? We need to get Jamil Wilson and Diamond Taylor. I just don't see him worth a scholarship but i guess we'll see. Do we for sure only have 2 scholie's left?

Unless someone transfers we only have two scholarships left for 2009. If we end up accepting a commitment for 2008 to replace Gullickson's vacated scholarship, that number shrinks to a lone schollie. The only UW prospect I've seen worth making that sacrifice for is Brad Tinsley. So yeah, I think we have to be selective with our choices, and I think we can, effectively, with our status elevating on a national level. Jenkins isn't what the doctor ordered in my opinion either. We really need shooting, but preferably that recruit would also possess point guard skills. Jenkins is more of a true shooting guard. He was offered prior to the Bruesewitz commitment. I'm not positive his offer is still active. If it was, he probably would have committed already.

Yeah I think Bern is dead on with this one. He was "offered" when he was a rising prospect last summer and receiving interest from a lot of top schools. His dad became skeptical and wanted the offer to come in person when they visited. To the best of my knowledge, that offer did not come, so I do not feel Jenkins will be a Badger anytime soon. I'm not ruling it out, but I would be surprised at this point. Look for us to land another guy after more postseasons begin to wrap up.

Agreed with what is being said in regards to Jenkins. I believe Jenkins and his dad were in town for the Minnesota game which is when they would have gotten the "offer in person" which is what they have asked for. It has been nearly 2 weeks and no commitment from Jenkins....this leads me to believe that their request for the offer to come in person never came. I doubt Jenkins is a Badger anytime soon unless we fall through on Jamil Wilson, Diamond Taylor, Royce White, and Rodney Williams first. Gut feeling is we get 2 of these guys.....so I wouldn't waste too much time worrying.

ok yea any of those 4 will do for me...i dont know jenkins so im not trying to put him down or anything i just think we need to go another way and im happy that you guys agree with me. So if they took away Guilkinson (sorry sp) and we didnt add another 2008 guy then we would have three scholis left?

I would love to see us land two of those. I think that we lead for Taylor and I may be in the minority but I would take either Jenkins or Taylor equally right now. I would love to get one of the three W's but I think it is a longshot. White is almost for sure going to be a gopher, Williams has some academics to clear up and if he does he will probably be a gopher too, and I just think that we are a longshot for Wilson. I would love to eat these words though and we do stand a better chance than none on all of these guys. Wilson is from instate. White and Williams are still relatively close and they played on the same AAU team as Jordan and Jared.

Kind of correct. If they took away Gullies schollie we would have five for 08, and it would leave 2009 unchanged (we would have 3 total). If we fill it with someone from 08 we have only two for 2009, which I think would be dumb at this point. And we also would currently only have 2 for 2010, but looking that far ahead is dangerous, as there is almost sure to transfers and whatnot.

From the current squad? 8, without Gullickson.
I don't think it would be stupid to add another player in 2008 if he was a bonafied late bloomer and fit our needs. I can foresee a possible depth issue next season. I'd project a starting lineup of: Leuer, Landry, Krabbenhoft, Bohannon, and Hughes. Our bench consists solely of question marks like Nankivil, Jarmusz, Gavinski, and 4 true freshmen. The problem is our options are limited with so many of the top recruits already signed. To reach on a player for 2008, without an eye on the future, that would be the stupid part.

Looking at our current board any player we take on for 2008 would be a poor decision. Pomlee, Nunn, Walker, etc cannot immediately help us, where as the quality of talent available in 2009 is far greater. As for Tinsley, we have less than a 1% chance with him, so at this point it would be better to have williams/wilson/taylor/white or even jenkins than to reach, imo

Jenkins still high on the Badgers. In fact, he seems in love with us.
