Eureka's top gun was No. 74 ranked 2009 prospect Jordan Prosser, who ended the game with 19 points and 14 boards.
|
They went up against Tennessee Briarcrest, or more importantly, Leslie McDonalds team. A strong showing under the spotlight.

Rivals doesn't seem to be writing off Prosser as one of UW's final two 09 commits

Talks about his latest visit to Iowa. Favors Iowa, Purdue, and UW and hopes to make a decision before summer.

Prosser says that UW is still recruiting him.
He just finished up visiting Tan Tommy's new diggs. He's soon going to tour the circuit to investigate all his options ( Wisconsin probably is no longer one of them, should have acted quicker Jordan!).
I read that Prosser plays in a league with weak competition and will probably be best suited for mid major ball.

Potential big news here. Some substantiation can now be added to the speculation that UW will be able to free a scholarship for the 2009 class. Prosser was told by Ryan that a player might be leaving from the current team before next season. Prosser would be one of the options to replace the player who departs.
Of course Jamil would be another.

If one opens I would think the pecking order would probably be Jamil,Rodney, and then maybe Prosser do we really need more bigs?

IMO, you don't take Prosser yet. You wait on Jamil and if he doesn't commit, you put it towards 2010.......Harrison Barnes and Flavien Davis are much more solid (I think).

Bo Ryan doesn't usually play pecking orders. Robert Wilson, Ryan Evans, etc. When there is a player on his radar, he acts. Now maybe J-Will is seen as a once in a decade type talent who Wisconsin has a built in advantage with, and Bo might make an exception.
But we do need true power forwards, for sure. If we didn't address it in '09 or '10, it would be the most pressing need in 2011. Berggren, Markolf, Anderson, and Gavinski are all more so low post center types. We added 2 power forwards in 2007 (Nankivil + Leuer), but nobody in the 3 cycles following.
And we don't know who would be transferring. Maybe it would be a big, and that would change our depth chart substantially. We could BADLY need a power forward who can step out and shoot the basketball. Jamil Wilson could address that need as a 3/4, but so could Prosser.

If I was making the decision, I think I'd share your philosophy. It also helps us, and I had thought of this before, that Rodney Williams isn't deciding until after his senior year in high school. By that time, Jamil would have made his decision, and if he chose to go in another direction, the scholarship would be on the table for Rodney. If he doesn't qualify, or spurns the Badgers, then worst case scenario we have another ship for the loaded 2010 class. I'm not a big banking guy because it has cost us depth-wise in the past, but at least we don't have clear redshirt candidates like Markolf and Evans for 2008. Also, Rick Wagner!
