Believes he's a good fit for Wisconsin's offense. Likes how they develop their big's shooting range (ala Stiemsma, Mader, etc.). Meyer is impressed with Anderson's defense and fundamentals.

The 12 points line is the line that he had in the state tourney game

So, who feels like talking in circles about Wilson and Williams for a while until the 2011 recruiting heats up? ; )
It's a long time until signing day 2010, Komacki. I don't think we're contriving relevant topics by talking about exceptional talents like Wilson, Williams, Davis, or even Kyle Kelm.
It was a joke. Personally, I'm very interested in where all four of those players end up. And Cerroni, I really want to see where he goes.

He only did average six rebounds per game in high school, so obviously he's not fully utilizing his strength/size. He doesn't have an understanding of how to play in the post on offense, as evidenced by his 8 point per game output. I played with a kid in 8th grade (R.I.P., died of an overdose in his early 20's) who was just so much bigger than all of his opponents, probably 6'7" or so, but he'd get blocked by kids over half a foot shorter because his arsenal comprised solely of a telegraphed right-handed hook with little lift. Size can only get you so far. If Evan Anderson has no offensive game right now, nor can he rebound, who is to say he'll ever gain those skills? Shot blocking? Didn't he only average around 2 per game? And that doesn't project to near as high of a total in college when he isn't playing relative dwarfs and when he doesn't have the lateral quickness to get in position. I think Berggren blocked around 7 shots per game at 6'10" this season.

Anyways, here's a couple older pictures and an article about Evan from 8th grade, if anyone's interested:

I seen Butch play a ton in high school, and his numbers were truly a product of his size. He was obviously good, but he had horrible feet and had a lot of traveling calls. While I have not seen Anderson in person, here is what the professional evaluators say:

"Evan does know how to establish deep position and has a nice baby hook going either direction,"

"He clogs the lane, blocks shots and alters even more, plays with the ball above his shoulders and scores at the rim."

"Anderson went six straight defensive possessions where he either blocked a shot or deflected a pass and that streak stopped because he needed a break. Opposing posts found it impossible to shoot over Anderson's arms."

His knocks include speed and stamina. While sitting down and watching him play a game will cement these ideas in my mind, I wouldn't knock him on stats alone. His high school has the "three towers" as they call it, so he isn't necessarily going to get a touch every possession. His AAU games seem far more impressive and are against better competition. Right now I like what I'm hearing

I'm stoked he's a Badger

Out of character for a Bo Ryan recruited/coached player, Anderson couldn't stay out of foul trouble this weekend in Waukesha. As a result, the recent Wisconsin commitment was only able to eek out just 5 points on the day. He was attacking the glass and protecting the rim however.

Mark Miller's evaluation of Evan Anderson from this past weekend:

At the same time, Anderson’s value to the Playground Warriors was never more evident than in the title game. After getting two quick fouls and sitting on the bench for the final 12 minutes of the first half, Anderson’s presence on both ends of the court helped his team turn a 10-point halftime deficit into a 40-40 deadlock with just a couple minutes left in the third period. Anderson, who gave a verbal commitment to play at Wisconsin last week, is a far from finished product on offense, but he has a great work ethic and is showing marked improvement from month-to-month.

Interesting evaluation from DraftExpress on Evan Anderson:

Quote:
We got two distinctively different impressions from watching Wisconsin commit Evan Anderson (#13 Scout, #21 Rivals, #14 ESPN) in two separate settings—one with his AAU team against a very weak group of players, and one at the adidas Nations. He’s clearly still trying to put everything together and it will be a ways until he’s able to justify his very high recruiting ranking, but we can definitely see where the intrigue is coming from.

Anderson is a thick, left-handed, 6-11 true center with an outstanding frame and a pair of exceptionally long arms and soft hands. That alone is half the battle at this stage in a big man’s development, but he has a little bit more to offer as well. Anderson has nice instincts as a shot-blocker, changing a good amount of shots around the rim with his superb length and fairly solid timing. He likes to operate with his back to the basket offensively, but really doesn’t have a whole lot to offer in terms of footwork or post moves at this juncture, which is fairly understandable. He gets fouled a lot in the paint, but isn’t able to convert on most of his free throw opportunities.

Anderson doesn’t run the floor all that well, he’s somewhat mobile but probably can’t be described as being particularly athletic, and seems to be liable to lapses in intensity as the game wears on. He doesn’t seem to go after every rebound, and got easily frustrated by the rough play he encountered in one particular occasion we saw him. He’s going to have problems staying out of foul trouble early on his career most likely, and generally should be considered a project at this point. Considering what he brings to the table with his physical attributes and budding skills, though, he’s obviously a guy to keep an eye on in the long-term.
