BadgerBeat.com - Wisconsin Badgers men's basketball: 2010 recruit Anderson still growing as a player Enjoy!
Davis has plenty of experience with UW-bound big men, having coached former Badgers Brian Butch and Greg Stiemsma as well as current sophomores Keaton Nankivil and J.P. Gavinski.
He said Anderson, who weighs about 250 pounds, is more powerful at this stage than any outside of Stiemsma.
This is the highlight of this article.

His junior year is off to a bit of a rocky start. Anderson was injured in a nonconference game against Superior on Dec. 12, suffering a third-degree sprain in his right ankle with some ligament damage. He's out until at least mid-January, and the Huskies have struggled somewhat in his absence, losing to Superior and Wisconsin Rapids.

Playing his first game since Dec. 12, Anderson knocked off any accumulated rust and scored 14 points.

Anderson, who had been out with an ankle injury, started the game and played 27:29. He got better and better as the game wore on. The University of Wisconsin recruit scored four points in the first half on 2-for-6 shooting but missed only one field goal attempt in the second half. He finished the game 6-for-11 from the field, which included a pair of dunks.
Anderson also knocked down two big free throws with 1:06 remaining.

What people tend to forget about this kid when they just look at stats is that he is pretty much the only option and thus gets triple teamed and cheap shots all night from the other team. High school ball is a bad indicator on the talent of a kid, especially bigs since they are spread out so thin amongst the schools. AAU is a better indicator for bigs since they are going up against kids their own size.

Brown had 15 and 14 in that game. He seems to be a pretty decent player at the high school level

And Brown scored 20 on Saturday, so Anderson is not without help (Anderson scored 2). Doubles could still prevent him from receiving the ball or having any space to operate though if North doesn't have a 3-point threat or two. I'm not sure how well their perimeter players shoot.

They are pretty bad from what I have heard. Basically they fun a box offense and the guards are pretty bad at getting him the ball which is why alot of his scoring comes off of rebounding and hustle plays.

I was at the game on Saturday, and your right Jwill the gaurds would not feed Evan the ball, you could tell Evan was frustrated to. Also every time Evan got the ball down low he would be swarmed by 2-3 defenders and there was nothing he could do. He also looks very uncoordinated and I think he needs more time to fit his body size.

What kind of outside shooters does Eau Claire North have? If they are decent, and he couldn't react and pass out of the double and triple teams to them, especially being able to see over everyone, then it's a substantial flaw in his offensive game.

North doesnt really have any outside shooters... Tyler Brown is what carries them, he looks very athletic and is a decent shooter also. Out of about the 5 times Evan got the ball down low 3 of the times he turned it over, like i said he is very uncoordinated and he just looses the ball. I will say in warm ups he looked very sharp he took about 10 shots and made about 8 of them. And he can touch the top of the backboard box, which is really impressive.

OK, it does sound like a bad situation for him. Still shouldn't be turning the ball over, but the Badgers should be able to create a more favorable situation where defenders have to travel further in order to contest, giving him more time to make his move or get the ball out of there. That's why legit shooters are so important and Bo should put a major emphasis on them between '10 and '11 to improve spacing for a guy like Anderson. A playmaker at the point also because it sounds like Anderson is the type of center who would benefit from draw and kick.

This is the exact reason why high school ball is bad to evaulate bigs. In college he isnt going to be tripled teamed by three guards all slapping at him. In high school refs tend to let guards do whatever to bigs.

Evan Anderson put all of his 6-foot-11 frame to good use.
The Eau Claire North junior center blocked Eau Claire Memorial's last shot in the final seconds to save a 33-31 win in the 124th intracity basketball game Friday night at the Eagles Nest.
That was just the capper. He also led both teams with 13 points and nine rebounds.
"We lost a few lately - by two, three or four points - so we needed to get a win," Anderson said. "This can be the turning point for us to trust in each other and gain confidence going into the tournaments."

Its going to be hard to put up big numbers when you score 33 in a game
