Taylor's Big Ten training has area roots :: High Schools :: YourSeason

3/15/09

Good article on Taylor. Here are some of the highlights

Quote:
Taylor score 23 points in a 68-61 semifinal loss to Naperville Central.
How their season ended...

Quote:
In Taylor, Wisconsin will be getting a slender 6-foot-3-inch guard with narrow shoulders and an explosive first step. Taylor played at St. Joseph before transferring to Bolingbrook for his senior season, a move he said he does not regret. Marty Gaughan, the former Benet coach, saw Taylor often in the East Suburban Catholic Conference and worked with him in the Illinois Wolves AAU program. Gaughan compared Taylor's athleticism to that of Evan Turner, the 6-7 sophomore out of St. Joseph who has emerged as an all-Big Ten guard/forward at Ohio State.

"I think (Taylor's) biggest thing right now is for him to really understand how good he can be, and I think to then have the attitude to be that good every time he steps on the floor," Gaughan said. "There's a lot of kids (who) fall into that.

"Evan Turner was kind of a little bit like that, (where) he didn't realize how good he could be and he didn't necessarily demonstrate that every time he stepped on the floor, and now he's doing that. And he's doing it at a really, really high level."
Nothing but more positives... I could see us playing more three guard line ups to get Diamond minutes similar to what Jordan got this year. Can't remember us having this much guard depth in some time

"(The University of Minnesota) didn't really compare," UW Kicker Taylor Mehlhaff said. "I loved the atmosphere here. It was pretty easy to cross (Minnesota) off the list. I wanted to play at the highest level possible but I also wanted to have that college atmosphere."

robbed multiple rooms of the Sellery(sp) dorms and possibly connected to others. Both admitted to the thefts in the dorms.

They should be kicked off the team. I recall Dupree Fletcher getting dismissed at Evansville for a similar offense. We can't exhibit lower character standards than Evansville for God's sakes. What were these kids thinking??? They had a great opportunity and they threw it away. If a scholarship player like Diamond Taylor wanted an I-Pod bad enough and couldn't afford it I'm sure he could extracted one legally (according to federal and state law) from a random student who's a big basketball fan or a "friend" of the program. Damn this was dumb. His tribulations are another kid's (Gasser's) opportunity. We absolutely have to double up on ball-handling guards in 2010, otherwise we'll only have 1-2 available in 2011 who aren't true freshmen. I guess the silver lining from our perspective was he had a lackluster senior season and reportedly wasn't playing well in practices.

Taylor has "left the team" - stemming from his arrest
