Expected or not, it still had to be devastating for both when it finally occurred. There are some feelings and memories which will be conjured up that only family members can identify with. And his father will have an empty nest with no spouse.
The timing of Marquette creeping back into the picture during the Oregon visit is telling if accurate. Being that far away could have given Jamil perspective.
Marquette is my prediction.
Wisconsin just decided to fully move on and not devise strategies of how to free a scholarship after Jamil's rough stretch in AAU which caused his stock to drop considerably.

If you're referring the report from a few weeks ago, it's outdated. Even though Marquette is seemingly at their scholarship limit, they're giving every indication they intend to sign another for the 2009 class. They were in pursuit of Snaer and Colvin, but they're going in different directions. That leaves Wilson. The Big East allows teams to over-sign by one. Don't know how MU will counteract the prospective overload.

I think that was the report on both Mark Miller's site and the major recruiting services. But then Scout contradicted themselves in a report late last week:
"First topic of discussion is Jamil Wilson. There’s a lot of moving and shaking going on in his recruitment. A conversation with his AAU coach, Duane Wilson, leads us to believe he will definitely commit during the signing period. The schools in the mix are Oregon, Michigan State, Texas and Marquette. Oregon was his last visit. MSU has been the assumed leader for much of his recruitment. Texas is the sleeper in this ordeal, while Marquette is making a late push and is very much alive."
And this was an update from Dave Telep's signing day blog on Nov. 11:
" Marquette, Michigan State, Oregon or Texas for Jamil Wilson. Word is he’s leaning toward signing tomorrow. In our minds, Michigan State was the long time behind the scenes leader but will they be able to sign him? Whispers began over the weekend – while he was on his visit to Oregon – about Marquette. Stay tuned. "

I just started arguing with this guy on Scout because he said that Jamil is "light years" behind Ryan Evans as a person....Which if you have followed my praises of Jamil is far from the truth, tune in its quite funny.

Says that Marquette isn't in the mix because he felt they were playing head games the way they pulled his offer and then renewed it weeks later.
If he hasn't signed the LOI anywhere else yet I believe MU could recover by explaining they pulled it because they had no scholarships available anymore but later deemed he was too special of a prospect not to figure out a way around that.

Game 2 Brooks College Preparatory Academy (Illinois) 55 Racine Horlick (Wisconsin) 52
Quote:
In another back and forth affair this one saw the young Brooks squad start to come of age as big plays, big baskets, and excellent perimeter defense by the young Brooks team proved to be too much for Horlick, despite a monster performance by Jamil Wilson for Racine Horlick. A laundry list of guys stepped up for Brooks led by super soph George Marshall Jr. who's ability to make big shots down the stretch and control the tempo of the game were huge against the taller Horlick squad. For Horlick, Wilson was sensational but big turnovers including 3 consecutive turnovers inside the last minutes of the game when the game was tied proved to be too much to overcome as Brooks was able to escape with the 3 point victory.
George Marshall led Brooks with 15 points while Justin Rabb hit for 9 points and Corey Jumper hit for 8 points to lead Brooks. Jamil Wilson was virtually unstoppable as he it for 30 points and grabbed 12 rebounds to lead the way for Horlick who also got 11 points from guard Antwon Oliver to pace the attack in a losing effort.

Guys just saw Park and Horlick a couple days ago, and Park is a very small team who didnt have one of their best(and tallest players) and they shut down Jamil he was not impressive one bit. Antwon Oliver looked like the best player on Horlicks team.

WSN just posted a video of a recent Horlick game against Manty and Wilson looks pretty nasty. Especially impressive were the handles for a kid that big and then vision to alley to a teammate in the very last clip.

Wilson scored a game high 29 points against Oak Creek on Friday and is now averaging 22.4 points a game.
Maybe he was too good indeed not to wait around for. I'm not looking forward to playing he and Maymon several times throughout their college careers. Wait to not take advantage of the elite prospects sitting right here in our very own state, Bo!
