NY2LA's comparison of Wilson to Korie Lucious is an insult. You mean Wilson is a small forward in a tiny point guard's body?
If Jamil wants to come to Wisconsin on scholarship, we'll make it happen.

"Izzo is on his way to Milwaukee, visiting 2008 recruit Korie Lucious and recruiting 2009 prospect Jamil Wilson."

New article on the Duke Rivals site.
It talks about how he liked Duke and Coach K growing up. Also talks about how they aren't recruiting him very hard, but yet he would like a chance to take an official visit and he would ultimately like an offer from them.
He does bring up that UW and MU are still on him very hard and says he does not know where MSU stands right now. He also repeats in this article his desire to stay close to home but says that that does not count schools like Duke out.
I would say overall, this is a fairly promising article....besides him really wanting the Duke offer. It says #1 that we are still recruiting him hard (good sign that we may still have room) and #2 that he still likes the idea of staying close to home.

Remember what Troy said about Jamil flirting with out of state programs in order to get his teammates recruited. Also, learning a lesson from John Clay's 2007 football recruitment, receiving offers from name programs equates to respect. It had nothing to do with having other opportunities available.

Here is a video interview and highlights of Jamil, back when he played in the WBY Shootout in late December: Sports Bubbler He seems like a very friendly, well spoken kid.
They don't allow direct links. Just scroll down the page and you should find it easily. 2010 prospect Marquis Mason is also available on the list.

MSU in running for elite Wisconsin hoops star
4/24
by Sam Webb
Quote:
One has to only see Horlick High (Racine, Wis.) standout Jamil Wilson on the basketball floor once to notice that he has outstanding potential.
When I first witnessed his on-court exploits at the Spiece Run N' Slam All Star Classic in Ft. Wayne last summer, it was immediately evident that he was one of the elite players in the 2009 class. Though only 16 at the time, he was arguably the best player in attendance at the talent-laden event.
"For my size you would think I'd be a power forward or small forward," Wilson told Scout.com, "but my dad brought me up to learn how to dribble, learn how to shoot, learn how to use both hands, learn how to post up, learn how to play defense, and learn how to block shots."
True to his word, Wilson was indeed a stat-sheet stuffer. At 6-foot-7 he handled the ball as well as many guards, was an excellent passer, and was explosive to boot. His crossover dribble from top of the key before ripping a pass down low to an open teammate for a lay-up was but one of many demonstrations of his high skill level and basketball IQ (continued).....

Rivals: King James Top Performers (free):
4/27
Quote:
Jamil Wilson, PF/SF, Wisconsin Playground Warriors
The 6-foot-7, inside-out forward led his team to a 16-and-under division championship and a stellar showing in the championship rounds. Wilson has potential for five-star status in the class of 2009. He's a versatile banger that can stretch a defense because of his perimeter skills. He has also displayed good athleticism.
Wilson not only helped his Wisconsin Playground Warriors win the tournament title, he took the wind out of the sails of in-state AAU rival Madison Spartans and 2009 foe Jeronne Maymon. Wilson is one to watch this spring. We think people will be discussing his game for a long time.

According to rivals, Izzo and assistants were at every game Jamil played in last weekend for the King James Shooting Stars tournament. Delvon Roe even made it for one game to sit with Izzo and visit with Jamil. And.....unfortunately....no Wisconsin coaches were there to watch.
Also, I dont much like this quote:
"Coach Izzo says the way I handle the ball can really open up a lot of things in his offense," said Wilson. "He thinks that I would be a great fit for what they like to do at Michigan State. I think I would be a good fit too because their offense allows multiple position guys to take advantage of mismatches."
It sounds to me like MSU is really moving up his list fast. Not good for UW. It also puzzles me that we didn't have coaches at ANY of his games....we were already there watching Vander Blue so you think we would have stopped in to take a peak.
I wonder if 2009 really is done....?

Izzo really wants Wilson badly. He tracked him closely during the King James Classic this past weekend. Wilson says all schools are even right now. MSU has caught up with the in state schools (complete speculation from SpartanMag) and will get a visit from the talented forward.

Thanks. I figured the video was just outdated, and that's probably the case if nobody else can access it.

It's not just the Wilson video. I tried watching the one about the STATE CHAMPION : ) Eisenhower Lions and it just kept replaying the Russ Darrow commercial. The whole thing appears to be busted.

so there has been this big debate on a facebook group titled "Bring Jamil Wilson to Wisconsin." This debate is whether he or not you would be upset that he would commit to any of the other big ten schools. Some have thought if he did this he would bring a higher rep to the big ten and that it would help us some how. I would rather have him go anywhere other than the big ten if he doesn't choose wisconsin. What do you guys think?

The better the Big Ten is, the better for us. I honestly root for every B10 team to go undefeated non-conference. So yeah, I would hope he stays Big Ten if it can't be us.
This is a stretch, but I dont want to be talked about like Memphis year in year out.
