Since irresponsible journalism became an epidemic. Nowhere in quotes did you see Jamil declare those were his top 4 teams. To our knowledge, he only even has an offer from one of those schools. Chances are the report was conjecture from the author himself, based on who he thought were the biggest name programs interested in Jamil.

I was thinking the exact same thing. Poor journalism and biased writers.

Article about how Jamil has been invited to a couple elite camps. Reiterates that he's still wide open.

The biggest story so far has been the play of the Playground Elite 17U squad, which is playing at the Nike Memorial Day Classic in Tennessee as part of the Nike Grassroots travel circuit. Playing and playing well they are as they blasted through pool play defeating Team Odom (CA), the Metro Hawks (NY), and the Miami Tropics (FL) behind monster performances from the likes of Jamil Wilson (pictured left), Johnnie Lacy (bottom left), Jimmy Sherburne, and Luke Russell.
Word on the street is that Wilson was an absolute beast on both ends as he blocked shots, ran the floor, stroked his jumper, and also put down some monster dunks.

Wis Hoops: Thoughts from NY2LA Sports Tourney

My choice for Most Valuable Player of the 17U bracket, Wilson was simply outstanding while leading the Playground Elite to a 69-56 victory over Team NLP of Chicago in the title game. Whether he was swatting shots, using his length to defend on the perimeter and in the post, running the team from the point-guard position or making shots, Wilson showed why he is so highly regarded with his dominating play in the second half of the contest against Team NLP. Wilson scored 17 points in the title-game victory and did a great job of shutting down rugged 6-foot-3 Lenzelle Smith of Zion-Benton, Ill., during the final 10 minutes of the contest. Wilson was somewhat quiet during the Playground Elite’s lopsided victories in the quarterfinal and semifinal rounds, but his play in the title game was stellar.

I'm coming back to the "Wilson is a must-get for Bo" camp, mainly because Crean leaving and Maymon committing to Marquette probably makes it a 0% chance that Wilson will be an Eagle. That leaves Izzo front and center to grab Wilson, which is the last place I want to see Wilson go.

Maybe we should have trusted Bo Ryan's judgement when he opted for Bruiser instead of Wilson. Bruiser's stock is on the rise, while Wilson has been struggling mightily during the AAU season. He was dominated by sub Rivals' 100 Michigan State commit Derrick Nix and reportedly was shut out scoring-wise in one game. I'd still accept his commitment probably if I were Bo but he's hardly developing into a player I desperately want to a player to transfer for. However, I'm still holding out hope that we wouldn't ask Gavinski back as 5th year senior if it meant securing Harrison Barnes, who is blowing up.

This may be one of the articles that prompted your last comment Bernini, but Wilson just got shut down by a bunch of youngsters (very talented ones) out in Vegas. He has not improved in the last year or so as much as you'd expect for an uber-talented young guy.
I think it was Wilson's versatility as much as athleticism that got him so much acclaim early on but that may have also contributed to his lack of dominance in any one area. For instance, why was Jamil playing the post against this Georgia team? He is a wiry, wing player who clearly has not mastered his outside shot, perhaps?
FWIW, every time I have seen Wilson play, his handle is very good for a taller player, but not Magic Johnson-great or anything. His shot-blocking ability has definitely been impressive though.

Wilson informed me earlier today via telephone that he has narrowed his list of schools down to 7 and they are as follows: Purdue, Michigan State, Duke, Marquette, Oregon, Texas, and Kentucky. These are not in any particular order.
