Here's a breakdown of Wilson from an Ohioan over at Buckeye Planet:

rob Is a steal and Coach Ryan is getting a player that can do damage on both ends of the floor. absolutely phenomenal player. he would have fit in well at OSU. but in only the second game of this past season. FRESHMAN Cameron Wright held the high flying star Rob Wilson the Junior to only 8 points and 3TO's, Cameron however scored 19 10rbd's and 7assists that game. Rob went on after that game to totally murder everyone that guarded him the rest of the season but on THAT DAY he was outplayed by a 14yr old. Now you give me a team of scrubs and give me Rob and CAm and that team will make it to states. may not win but they will be in the final four. and thats how I feel about Rob Wilson.......A STEAL I TELL YA!!!!

The season is only two games young, but the Garfield Heights boys basketball team already has one tournament championship.

With senior Robert Wilson and junior Carl Jones leading the attack, Garfield Heights put together a 16-point second quarter that came by way of fast break baskets and sound execution in the half-court. The game also featured the one-on-one confrontation with Wilson and Benedictine's Cameron Wright. Just a sophomore, Wright has already verbally committed to Ohio State and is averaging more than 20 points a game. Wilson put the clamps on the future Buckeye and held the Bengals guard to just four baskets from the floor and 10 points overall.

And with that, the Bulldogs maintained their edge throughout the second half and kept their distance from the opponent to record the win. Wilson led all scorers with 29 points including five three-pointers and 12 rebounds, while Jones added 18 points and four assists to the totals.

Wilson, a 6-5 senior guard-forward and Wisconsin recruit, scored 26 points and grabbed 14 rebounds. He made 10 of 16 shots and showed his versatility by hitting 2 of 3 3-pointers and making three dunks. The final throw-down came off an alley-oop pass from Anthony Steplight.

"Robert is a do-it-all kind of kid," said Garfield Heights coach Sonny Johnson. "He guards the opponent's best offensive player. I call him a stat-stuffer. He's a great player and it's a pleasure to coach him."

The soft-spoken Wilson has a 3.3 grade-point average. His academic work mirrors the effort he gives in basketball. Wilson believes practice has made him a more complete player, including as a shooter.
"I have a better, quicker release," he said, "just catching the ball and shooting instead of catching, thinking and shooting."

I realized we had a dearth of information on Mr. Wilson, still, so I thought I'd dig up what I could. These articles are dated, but they might help give a clearer picture of him as a player and prospect.

Robert Wilson helped the Bulldogs to a great start with 11 first-quarter points, including three consecutive 3-pointers for a 19-9 lead. Wilson finished with 24 points. His backcourt teammate, Carl Jones, led all scorers with 30. Jones' 3-pointer with 15 seconds left in the second quarter gave Garfield Heights a 45-27 lead at the half.
"We came in and we played hard and we played defense the way you're supposed to," Wilson said. "It's a lot of fun playing with these guys. It's pretty preposterous. As if every time one of the recruiting services elevate a recruit of ours in the rankings, they have to drop another to even things out. Rankings aren't without merit, but they also aren't immune to politics and false perception. It's like if Puke accepts a commitment from a player he must be elite. Yet they haven't played like an elite program the last few seasons.

Most Badger fans would tell you that Jordan Taylor projects to be our best recruit, yet he's rated as the third or fourth best by services. Most entrenched in football scene in state would have told you that Mike Taylor was the best player in Wisconsin, yet he was a 2-star player.

There's already a thread for him. I'd suggest trying there. Also, there hasn't been much news about the basketball team for quite a while, as you can tell by looking at the dates of the last post in most of the threads. School starts in a couple weeks, though, so it'll probably pick back up around the start of September. You could check back then.
