Turner on visit to IU | The Hoosier Scoop: Indiana University Hoosiers Basketball, Football, and more

9/30/08

Quote:
The weekend visit is getting to be something of a routine for Turner, who has already been to Purdue and Ohio State.
He went to the Indiana game against Michigan State, walking around the tailgating area. He played pick-up basketball with the current Hoosiers ("I was just trying to work hard," Turner said). And he got know the coaching staff.
"IU, Purdue and Ohio State all have real nice coaches," Turner said.
Turner has one more visit planned to Wisconsin. Part of that weekend will be watching the Badgers take on Ohio State.
That covers the visits he has made... Seems like a Big Ten kid all the way

Wisconsin assistant coach Gary Close called at 11:30 a.m. Turner has been speaking with him once a week already, and said they are "pretty close." Associate head coach Greg Gard, who is also Wisconsin's recruiting coordinator, called shortly thereafter.
That night, Badgers head coach Bo Ryan called Turner. Ryan is headed to Colorado Springs, Col. today to start workouts for the USA's World University Games team. Ryan, the head coach of that team, will be in Colorado and then Serbia for the next month.
"He sad he wanted to talk to me before he left," Turner said.
The Badgers indicated they have a spot for a perimeter shooter in the class of 2011 and that Turner could be the player to fill it.

"I didn't think it was a big deal, the de-commitment," former Gopher verbal David Gilreath said. "I think this was the best decision of my life."

"(The University of Minnesota) didn't really compare," UW Kicker Taylor Mehlhaff said. "I loved the atmosphere here. It was pretty easy to cross (Minnesota) off the list. I wanted to play at the highest level possible but I also wanted to have that college atmosphere."
