Update:
Rivals $ 5/8
Glover recently visited Madison and the trip couldn't have went better. He's leaning Wisconsin over TAMU Corpus Christi, however if he elects to come to UW, he'll only be on scholarship following his first year.
One would presume this is also confirmation that Gavinski will no longer be on scholarship with the Badgers in 2010. I don't even see how he could even be with the program in a walk-on capacity with adding Glover, Mason, and the guy from Bemijdi State.

So wait a second, if he is gonna have 3 years on scholarship couldn't we have went after a 2010 prospect and offered 4 years on scholarship? Like Harrison barnes or jd weatherspoon?

Well Barnes is a pipe dream, and Weatherspoon will be a Buckeye.

I'm just using those guys as examples. Since it seems like we could have attempted to use it on a better prospect

Also if these recent walk-on's are any indication, of the direction that Bo is trying to go, it tells you that we are now able to recruit the more athletic version's of Bo's type of Player.
Mason had Mid Major offers
Glover seems to be a very athletic player that flew under the radar(ala Evans)
these guys are compared to the likes of
Brett Valentin and JP(he is not a scholarship player IMO )

Weatherspoon came out last week and said that he is pretty much sure he is going back to XU after talking to the coaches there.

I think I read that Ohio State is losing 2 scholerships not sure what year it was for but it has to do with the new acedemic codes. BadgerBeat.com - Wisconsin Badgers men's basketball: APR numbers
So that may bring into question there ability to bring anyone else on...

Also, posted this stuff on the rivals board, but forgot to post it on here.
A poster on the free board for Scout who has actually seen Glover play had the following to say:
Quote:
I've seen the kid play a lot this year and he is definitely a good player. He was a late bloomer and didn't really get much varsity run until his junior year. He shot up a couple of inches, improved his handle and became pretty explosive off the dribble, as well as a pretty good shooter.
He played in a DC area private school league that isn't top tier (the Washington Catholic Athletic Conference is probably the best private school league in the country) but his team was pretty good (fringe Washington Post Top 20), which is saying a lot in such a basketball rich area. His team also played, and beat, the Virginia Division 1 (highest division) State Champs (who, ironically, came in about 6th or 7th in the WCAC) who were led by a Virginia Tech PG signee.
He went off for a couple of huge games (one was linked above) and I thought he'd end up signing with an A10 team or someone on that level, or get an invited walk on spot at a place like UMD, West Virginia or UVA. With a redshirt year and a year on the bench at Wisconsin, he could definitely be a contributor in the Big Ten. I don't think this is a reach at all, unless he's taking a scholly away from some 4 star, 2010 stud.
Go to DCSportsFan.com and do a search in their recruiting video section for Glover. You'll be able to catch some of his highlights.
|
Anyway, I checked out this website that he mentions and did a quick search. It came back with a ton of articles written about Glover or Flint. I am gonna attached the link for the search so that those who are interested in actually reading about Glover before pronouncing him a failure can do so.
Also, you can access the videos by registering for free with the site.

So Glover taking a schollie really limits our flexibility with both Blue and Wright

"I didn't think it was a big deal, the de-commitment," former Gopher verbal David Gilreath said. "I think this was the best decision of my life."
"(The University of Minnesota) didn't really compare," UW Kicker Taylor Mehlhaff said. "I loved the atmosphere here. It was pretty easy to cross (Minnesota) off the list. I wanted to play at the highest level possible but I also wanted to have that college atmosphere."

Yep, not too much wiggle room now. I would assume there's only the one spot left. It's Blue or Wright at this point. Guess we'll see how things pan out in the next few days or what happens after Wright visits in June.
I am still standing by my thoughts that the Glover offer was in place before anything with Blue truly surfaced. So, I am assuming that this is JP's 5th year that is going to Glover.
Either way, welcome to the Badger family, Jeremy! Keep up the hard work!

The more I read about this guy the more I like him. Getting JD Weatherspoon obviously would've been a step up, but I think this guy should be a solid player. The more and more I read about him the more I like. He seems like a late bloomer, and I always trust Bo more then the recruiting sources, so I think he's a solid pickup.
