I'm happy he got an offer. It seemed from recent discussion like offers would begin rolling in this summer with the way his AAU season has started and his first year of high school ball wrapped up. I feel like it's always good to be the 1st to offer, especiallty if the kid is a blue chip like Tokoto.

A really good read about Tokoto. This kid has AMAZING athleticism for his age. Sounds like a very grounded and respectful kid. It's obvious he has attentive parents.
WISCONSIN STATE JOURNAL
Some good quotes regarding JP and the Badgers:
Quote:
|
“When Bo Ryan finally told me he was offering me a scholarship, I didn’t know what to say. I just said, ‘Thank you,’ ” Tokoto said sheepishly. “I was very happy. I couldn’t stop smiling.”

The college coaches are already coming. Tokoto said he’s a big UW fan, but understands he has to weigh all the offers he’ll receive before making a decision where to play.

Open gym report V1.5 - JSOnline
Quote:
J.P. Tokoto: I'd never seen Tokoto play prior to Sunday. But after just a couple games, I was right on board with everyone else who believes the Menomonee Falls wing is a stud in the making.
He's long and lanky, probably between 6-4 and 6-5, and really skinny, which is to be expected at that age. What you don't expect to see out of many kids that age is the athletic ability or the maturity he exhibited on Sunday.
While Tokoto's overall game still appears somewhat raw (again, this is the first time I've seen him, and it was an open gym), he more than made up for it with his leaping ability and quickness. He threw down a couple of big dunks, read the passing lanes well for a few steals, and was able to get some things done in close despite his lack of physical strength by either reading the ball or getting on the pogo stick.
Tokoto spent most of the day matched up against Erik Williams, and he more than held his own. It was intriguing to watch the two go at it, and Tokoto didn't back down a bit. He also seemed at ease, which, for a high-school player, is saying something. I've seen plenty of other high-schoolers come into that environment and become intimidated or ineffective by trying to do too much, and that certainly wasn't the case Sunday.
There's still a long way to go in his recruitment, but it's easy to see why MU, UW and Kansas have all offered him already. It's a safe bet he's going to have plenty more of the biggies calling on him before it's all said and done.

It would be nice to crush the Dukies right in front of JPT, however last time it didn't work so well

The Kansas and Duke offers before his sophomore season put him in pretty good position to be one of the best WI prospects ever.

Just heard this comment and thought I'd pass it along for discussion here. Does anyone else think it is just a coincidence the year Duke finally agrees to play a road game in Madison is the same year they offer a blue chip player from the Milwaukee area?
