Write it down, remember it, or do whatever it is that you do but when it's all said and done Mr. Cook has the potential to become the top player in the Class of 2011 for the state of Wisconsin. Excellent size, length, frame, and athleticism already. Big time rebounding and shot blocking instincts and he runs the floor well. Skill set is still raw but he has the potential and ability to flat out become a dominant player in the coming years. Excellent lineage as well and he's just now starting to tap into his ability. He has the potential to become a dominant defender and excellent prospect with hard work and continued development of his game. Needs to develop his stroke, mid range offensive game, and ability to knock down the outside shot. Already can run the floor, slash to the rim and finish. Really expect big things from him in the coming years. The #1 sleeper in the state of Wisconsin right now without a doubt. Big time upside and potential!

The sophomore has led Milwaukee Hamilton in scoring w/ 14.5 while fellow prospect teammate Darnell Harris has been inactive.

During the preseason he was named one of the "terrific 25 players to watch" in the state by the Journal Sentinel.....

Elgin Cook, 6-5, soph., Milwaukee Hamilton: One of the five sophomore transfer students who turned up at Hamilton before former Milwaukee Vincent legend Tom Diener was named the Wildcats' head coach. Came from Bay View along with 6-6 Darnell Harris, 5-8 Charles Lee and 6-3 Haki Stampely. Also transferring, from St. Francis, was 6-0 Kiwane Crowder. All five will see extensive playing time as Diener sets to work building another dynasty.

Joining Harris on the Wildcats’ frontline is Cook, a physical 6-5 forward and the son of former Milwaukee Bucks guard Alvin Robertson. Of all the sophomores in the Wildcats’ lineup, Cook may have improved the most over the past 12 months. He finished with 10 points against Craig and was able to get his shot off whenever he wanted it.

“Cook has got a little bit of toughness, which I like,” Diener said. “He gets mad in practice and goes at people. He doesn’t back down. He isn’t afraid to put his body into people. I think that will serve him well.”

Got a chance to see Cook play last night in the hamilton vincent showdown.
-Plays with a huge meanstreak
-Very raw, but loaded with athletic ability.
-poor form and rotation on jumper, also i was surprised that he had trouble finishing all game.
-Limited handle.
-Very aggressive all over the court and used this aggressiveness to his advantage on the boards, specifically offensively.
-Overall, I cannot fathom him becoming a target for the badgers, he may have the body of a big time D1 recruit but that is about it, he lacks polish in almost every facet of his game and is not even close in most areas (handle, jumper, court awareness). I dont want to write him off but i just cant see him becoming much more than a mid major recruit.

No. 5-ranked Elgin Cook of Milwaukee Hamilton might be the most improved player in the class. An outstanding athlete who can get to the basket and finish, the 6-5 Cook is still learning the game and has a very high ceiling.

Cook scored 19 points to lead the way for Hamilton as they beat Racine St. Cats to improve to 8-1 on the season.

Cook led Hamilton with 14 points in their annihilation of Milwaukee Pulaski this weekend (70-27). Hamilton is undefeated since Darnell Harris was declared eligible, and have become one of the elite teams in Wisconsin already in just Tom Diener's first season as their head coach.

6'5" G/F Elgin Cook of Milwaukee Hamilton

in Wisconsin continues to impress and develop. The young Cook exploded two years ago during the NY2LA Sports Generation Next All-Star Camp and has turned in a number of strong performances on both the high school side and the Grassroots side over the past couple of years including a monster showing at last fall's Breakfast of Champions League that saw him grab First Team All-BOC honor. The young versatile swing is an explosive athlete with nice size and excellent length. He is a lethal talent in transition and his skills continue to develop across the board. When it's all said and done Cook will become an elite prospect nationally and could become a huge story this spring/summer. He's gotten interest from a host of schools including, but not limited to, the likes of Florida State, USC, Kentucky, Purdue, DePaul, Iowa, Iowa State, Marquette, and Wisconsin amongst others. Cook can really go and he is part of a loaded 2011 class in the state of Wisconsin right now. First things first though as he and his Hamilton teammates are set for a huge showdown on Friday against undefeated Milwaukee Washington at Milwaukee Washington. He'll compete this summer for the DTA Rebels Grassroots program based out of Wisconsin.

After reading the Rivals write up he plans on being a 2/3, depending on his growth over the next two seasons. Wants to sign in the early signing period, which is still over a year away in November 2010.

If he and Harris both get MU offers I think they go there... although now this also gives ISU a better shot at Harris, IMO

I'm not sure that we will offer Harris, however. We've been recruitng him for over two years, and haven't offered.
Cook got an offer in June, but waited until his second campus visit to commit.
