News - Wisconsin Swing Basketball
4/20/08
The Swing took a loaded (Kelm, Gasser, Averkamp) 16/17U team to Colorado, and did extremely well. They beat several good teams, including the Illinois Wolves (not sure if DT was playing), before losing when Kelm and Gasser had to catch early flights home. Look for Kelm and Gasser to begin blowing up.
Gasser's best game (points wise) was 29 over the Bay Area Warriers (CA)

We can. I've always heard positive things about his abilities from those who've seen him. I just don't know if it's public that the Badgers have expressed interest.
I was going to start a thread on Chip Rank. The Badgers have expressed some interest in him. Never assume Bo will be predictable. Few thought he'd offer Tim Jarmusz.

I agree with Bo being unpredictable but I seriously doubt he gets an offer or even serious interest for that matter. I also think that 6"4' listing is very very generous but I could be wrong.
We've already got our eye on blue and lenzelle smith anyway.

Lenzelle Smith has a .01% chance of coming here. He is more locked to UI then Barnes is to ISU

Who? Mr. Gasser or Mr. Rank? Rank is listed at 6'5" on WSN and they are often fairly stingy with their measurements, unlike say Hoopmasters who always adds 2 inches. If you were talking about Gasser, even if he isn't 6'4" it's not much of an issue. Anything 6'2.5" and above would make size an asset for him as a college floor general.

Wow, so I missed seeing Cerroni AND Gasser play in the state tournament? Gasser played the STATE CHAMPION Eisenhower Lions (that's so much fun to say)(left picture) in the first round this year, and I would have been there if not for a last minute conflict. I'll see if I can grab a copy of Scheidegger's scouting report on him or if any of the more basketball-savy people back there have anything to say about him.
And I'll just come out and say what everyone is thinking: ANOTHER white guy? Hopefully Bo will get Blue instead of Gasser so we can finally get some athleticism on the Badgers. (Yes, that's sarcasm)

Well, the reason I brought it up is because i attend Germantown High School, he is a very smart kid and with his grades he would have the oppurtnity to walk-on at UW, I've went to all the GTown hoops games, one game Rob Jeter was in the crowd, whcih shows that, interest is there from UWM. Also, during the game @ the Al against Vincent, I saw landry hanging in the crowd, so i walked over and had a chat with him, nothin' big but I'm like let Bo know about Big Ben, whether he did or not i dont know, but anways, one of my better friends Jalen McCloud, also on the GTown varsity team, has told me that a scout from Saint Louis university has visited practice mand Rick Majerus is recruiting him, as well as Iowa State among others.

There's more than just interest from St. Louis and UWM. UWM reportedly offered over a year ago. St. Louis followed suit.
Having the grades to walk-on at UW is one obstacle. Another obstacle is whether or not his family is wealthy enough to justifying paying several thousands of dollars in tuition per year instead of getting it for free. A third is whether or not we'd have a spot available. That's doubtful if a guy like Gavinski would sacrifice his scholarship for Jamil Wilson, Rodney Williams, etc. Also, Rick Wagner from the football team is an excellent walk-on candidate. He also had an offer from UW-Milwaukee. A fourth is whether or not he'd be willing to accept a supporting role at best probably, his entire career.
In summation, there's a slim chance he walks on at UW. I'll root for him at St. Louis or UWM.

The 6-4 Gasser has also been highly impressive for the Wisconsin Swing on the travel-team circuit this spring. A point guard with excellent size and playmaking ability, Gasser has an offer from UW-Milwaukee to go along with the new offer from North Dakota State.

Speaking of PG's 6'4" Josh Gasser of Port Washington is as good a shooter as exists in the 2010 class in the Midwest. He's got a pure stroke and a soft touch and he continues to play well every time he takes the floor with the Wisconsin Swing 16U squad. With Vander Blue having committed to Wisconsin, Gassers the best available 2010 guard right now in the state of Wisconsin. He just grabbed an offer from North Dakota State to go with one from UW-Milwaukee already.
|
Interesting take, as Mark Miller has Gasser rated both behind Cerroni and Kadima.
Trevor Haas was mentioned as yet another player to watch from Wisconsin's loaded in state 2010 class.

Majerus, the former head coach at Marquette, Ball State and Utah, once again is testing the waters in Wisconsin as he recently offered scholarships to Randolph junior Kyle Kelm and Port Washington junior Josh Gasser.

Mark also mentions he has a GB offer as well.
