For the second year in a row, Marian Central quarterback Jon Budmayr, a Wisconsin recruit, is out with an injury. But this time it may be for the rest of the regular season........
|
Hopefully it does not affect his long term future for both his sake and ours.

ESPN - Tom Luginbill: Looking at the skill sets of the top quarterbacks in the Class of 2009
Quote:
Best intangibles
What Scouts Inc. looks for: A player with the ability to succeed on toughness, leadership, savvy and creativity. Some guys have great tools along with intangibles and others lack great measurables and physical gifts, but find ways to win regardless. Intangibles are extremely difficult to define, but you know it when you see it.
2. Jon Budmayr (Woodstock, Ill./Marian Central Catholic)
Budmayr is a lot like Todd Reesing from Kansas -- a competitor who overcomes his lack of height with deceptive athleticism and a quick arm. Unfortunately he lost his senior campaign to an injury earlier in the year. Budmayr may be just what the doctor ordered for Wisconsin at the QB position; he is certainly different than anything the Badgers have had before.

JOHN BUDMAYR, QB, 6-1, 195, 4.7, WOODSTOCK (MARION CENTRAL), ILLINOIS
John said he is still committed to Wisconsin and will take his official visit to Wisconsin on December 12th for the banquet.
John comments what he liked about Wisconsin
“There were a lot of things that were important to me obviously the football program, academics, and the type of education I would receive.” Budmayr said
“Really when I sat down and talked about the school, with my family and stuff I was down to two schools. I prayed about it pretty hard, then one day I felt this is the place I need to be and Wisconsin was the perfect fit for me.” Budmayr said
“Wisconsin told me I had the opportunity to compete so that’s all I can ask for,” Budmayr said, “I’ll get myself prepared for that. I’ll just compete try to help the team anyway I can. I graduate in January, so I can go up there for the spring.”
“I talk to the Wisconsin coaches every week that helped me to commit there. Is just that relationship that I had to bond, was tremendous.” Budmayr said
John said he went to Madison last summer but he didn’t throw there. He had a Team 7 on 7 two days before and his arm was sore.
Why not Notre Dame?
“At University of Notre Dame you’re going to receive a great education. Play at a high level of football. The campus there is pretty neat too.” Budmayr said, “When it came down to it just the relationships I felt with Wisconsin was very important to me. Wisconsin was the perfect fit. I talked about it with my family and I really prayed about it.”
“I received an offer from them (Illinois). I went to visit there. I don’t know it just wasn’t me. Just didn’t fit in what was going on there.” Budmayr said
