Rivals $ (Wisconsin Preps)

12/18

Receiving hand written letters from Ball State and Princeton. Was invited to a few Illinois and Duke games this past season. Favorites are Princeton, Ball State, and Wisconsin/Illinois/Minnesota-Mankato. Plans to attend various combines throughout the midwest and train hard in the offseason in order to improve his stock. Grew up a huge Badger fan.

If he can strengthen up a little more I could see him becoming a Badger. He has solid measurables, I am especially impressed with his near 29' verticle for a recruit his size. If he can get his weight up to around 270-280 and his reps to around 20 I could see us offering. I love Wisconsin DT's. They have motors that never stop. If only Newkirk was 30 pounds bigger.

Are you Jordan himself, a coach, or a relative? Regardless, thanks for posting. That was very interesting indeed.

I'm not an expert by any means (although how do you get that label anyways), but I studied those videos pretty closely, and I'll give you my honest evaluation.

My opinion closely resembles, in regards to caliber, that of Marlins, our esteemed writer/analyst for WSN Football. He had Jordan rated at 4.5 stars which implies a mid major D1 recruit. I'd assert more in limbo between mid major and high major. Maybe a Patrick Butrym would be an accurate example of that level of prospect.

Where we might disagree is position. Marlins should correct me if I'm wrong, but my perception is that he's projected as a DL at the next level. IMO, his best position at the next level will be as an interior lineman. Offensively he seems to do an excellent job of exploding off the line and getting leverage in his man before the defense can react. When he locks on.....can control his opponent....and has a good idea where to steer him to open holes for the back. Smart kid obviously as evidenced by interest from Princeton, among others. Also, plays with a nasty streak. Lit a few of those kids up. Defensively I saw a few more holes, i.e.: in the areas of suddenness off the line of scrimmage and ability to disengage after offensive linemen latch on. Could stand to gain a substantial amount of weight, but acknowledged as much. Gradual is the key though. Don't know if you want to gain 20-25 pounds in offseason, lest risk sluggishness.

Pretty good prospect, who might be a possibility for the Badgers next cycle.

Yes, I am Jordan. Just wanted to see what the opinions were of some people regarding the video. Thank you for the kind words, I think gaining around 20 pounds by next year shouldn't be to much of a problem. I was 230 my sophomore year and usually played around 245-250 this year as a junior, while getting faster in the process.

Once again, thank you for your thoughts on the film and spending your time to watch it.

My pleasure. Welcome Jordan. I've created a few highlight videos (not of myself) and I know how tedious they can be to construct. Nice musical selections with P.O.D., Disturbed, and ACDC.

Have you informed any schools about the video or sent them a copy? Also, could you disclose if Wisconsin or any other programs have become more serious since your last upadate with Rivals? I know this is the quiet or dead period (don't recall) and programs are scrambling to wrap their '08 classes, so those would be deterrences. Don't get discouraged if you don't hear much til February or March.

Yes, it did take a while to make the video, luckily my Dad is very talented in that department.

I did send the film out to a number of schools, including all the Big Ten schools, the MAC schools, and some others including Princeton, Brown, Cornell, Darmouth and Hawaii. I've gotten some stuff for correspondence, just a few letters saying the schools received my film and it was being evaluated. Ball State and Princeton went a bit further with hand-written responses.

Also, Iowa called my head coach but he missed the call so I don't really know if they had anything to say about the film or not, but I'm guessing they did. Wisconsin hasn't really been saying much to me as of now, but I'm sure they're concetrating on their 08 class like you mentioned before. They were the first to ask for film my sophomore year and the first again this year so they have some interest it seems.

As for it being a dead period, I think it is. And you're right about the interest picking up in Febuary and March. I noticed that alot of the stories Marlin writes on wissports involving scholarship offers to juniors and heavy interest are written in the spring, right around the time the combines start.

Thanks for the update man. Hate Iowa.....but I hope it's a positive response nonethless. Always like to see the in state kids progress to bigger stages. It can be tougher to get noticed in this state than others, i.e.: Florida or Texas. Sometimes you have to make an extra effort, which you're doing obviously.

Jordan, if you don't mind, I have a couple more questions with which I'd appreciate if you took the time to answer.

I'm pretty intrigued by the fact that you won the Outstanding Defensive Lineman Award at Michigan Camp last summer. Could you expound on the circumstances? For example, how many other defensive linemen would you estimate attended the camp? Were '08 linemen included in that grouping? How would you rate the competition overall? Did they ask you to work exclusively on the defensive side of the ball?

Also, the '09 in state class seems to possess exceptional strength among both lines (especially defensive). Have you played any of the other players being bandied about as legitimate D1 prospects, i.e.: Travis Frederick, Tyler Dippel, Henry Van De Hyde, Shelby Harris, Alex Dietzen, Dan Arnes, Hank Jacobs, Justin Juckem, or Ryan Groy? If so, what were your impressions of their games overall, and relative to yours. Versatility is always an asset in regards to receiving scholarship offers, and I think that's especially the case for UW's class next cycle.

Thanks.

Well, I was misquoted on the Outstanding D-Lineman Award, I received one, along with maybe six others, I know one of them was Mike Martin and another Lucas Bauer, but he had to leave early. I'm pretty sure that the others who won were also D1 prospects.

At the Michigan camp I was in the "prospect" group where Coach Hoke from Ball-State would take the best DLs and we'd go against the best OLs. I went against Ethan Ruhland, and Graham Pocic. I remember Bauer beating Ruhland and I remember those really being the only OLs I lost to at the camp, albeit getting pretty close.

I went against Travis Frederick at the Wisconsin Camp and I believe it was a pretty good match up. I was playing end and he was playing tackle, I only had a chance to go against him twice, and once I beat him, and another time he beat me. I might've went against Henry VandeHey, but I really don't recall it, but I have to say that I talked with him quite a bit at the camp and he was a really down to earth, humble kid. I also went against Greg Shaw who is from Florida and got pretty close to the QB, but he was quite the player.

As for the football season, I don't think I went against any D1 prospects, next year however our opening game will be Beaver Dam and I will probably be going up against Hank Jacobs, which will be a great experience and hopefully a fun match-up to watch.

Oh, but I did go against Justin Juckem during our pre-season scrimmage. He played D-End against me and I remember blocking him, he was pretty quick, but I know that his numbers are just off the charts and I think he was just getting back into the swing of things by the way he played against me. I didn't have that much trouble blocking him though, but like I said, it was a pre-season scrimmage. I remember chasing him down when he caught a pass and getting him. I have to say that he has some size to him and obviously has the measurables (4.65 electronic 40, 6'5", 240)

Thank you for the questions and once again for your opinion on my film, if you have anymore I'd be glad to answer them.
