My first prediction of the year....Kraig Appleton will be starting by half-way through the season.

idk about that.. certainly not a stretch to predict that. but i don't see him getting past gilreath or toon.. i do believe he will get significant playing time throughout the season though

My thinking is that whenever someone goes down, I think he is just going to run with the spot, similar to Julio Jones at Alabama.

i'm guessing this has nothing to do with academics and more to do with them misbehaving.

I think they're pretty much done, they are going to miss the rest of fall camp so I dont see how the hell they will get there spots back. On another note its good to know that Kevin Claxton is starting to come on at SS, and I have always been high on Shelton Johnson who will get most of the reps at FS.

I was hoping Carter would win back the FS job, looks like another year of Maragos

I wouldnt count out Shelton Johnson, he was extremely impressive in spring camp from things ive read. Now with increased Reps he should have an opportunity to win the job.

You mean you're the one person who wanted that to occur? I'm sure many will miss him not knowing his assignments, under-pursuing because of lack of instincts, over-pursuing because he played too high, getting run over because he wasn't strong enough, and not attacking balls in the air but rather poaching in centerfield.
Safety is one of several positions which I'm concerned about on this year's team. The lack of depth at corner forcing Cromartie to switch to cornerback killed my hope of the position being at least solid.

i wanted carter to win the job back as well. obviously he would have to learn how to tackle before he could start again.

From every report I've heard all spring he has improved in all areas. He would actually give us a playmaking threat out there. Maragos does nothing well, Carter at least has good ball skills.
We were best when we had a linebackerish SS and a ball-hawking FS. Now we have a tank at SS and a guy who is poor athlete who can't tackle or catch at FS. I'm with you Bern, I think we are in trouble in the outfield. It would have been nice to see Landingham on the field about now
