Ontko another Ohio target -

Feb. 11, 2009

The Nittany Lions are working hard recruiting the state of Ohio - particularly northeast Ohio. Penn State assistant Jay Paterno seems to have stopped everywhere in that part of the state.

One of the prospects Paterno is interested in is junior Cameron Ontko from Stow Walsh Jesuit.

"[Jay] Paterno came in and picked up my film a couple weeks ago," Ontko said. "He said they will be back in touch. He has my e-mail address."

When asked which schools he is interested in, Ontko said, "I like Ohio State, Notre Dame, Michigan State, Florida State, Illinois, Indiana, Penn State and Northwestern."

Ontko attended an Ohio State junior day in late December and would like to attend a junior day at Penn State.

Tried out at OLB at camp. Could also be used as a safety at the next level.

From a 4.7 to a 4.43 - that's much quicker... hmm.

He ran a 4.49 at a Rivals camp, and was handtimed at 4.39 another time. His speed is legit.

Ontko has Wisconsin well in the lead, and the only thing that could possibly (not necessarily) change that is an OSU offer. OSU should decide by the end of the week, and that's when he plans to make his decision.

Thank you Troy.

I'm not sure where he'll project to on the field, but with his speed, power, dexterity, and instincts; I'm pretty sure he'll be a factor in some area. Hopefully this starts recruiting momentum in UW's favor because previously prospects who were on the fence may have been reticent due to the dearth of commitments, thinking the program was trending downward and thus it would have been a bad time investment of 4-5 years to spend it w/ Bucky. Brennan is next. *prays*

Tonight, ntko had a 73 yard TD reception and 10 yard TD run, while also being the leader of the defense who blanked Licking Valley.

As long as we're catching up on performance reports: Ontko rushed the ball 15 times for 123 yards and 2 TD's last weekend.

Ontko had 13 carries for 142 yards this past weekend before suffering a bruised knee. Kid is just a football player ala fellow Ohioan Chris Borland.
