Scout.com: Cadogan Ready for Upcoming Season
3/14
By Todderick Hunt. Sherard's lone offer is from Pittsburgh...PSU, Rutgers, Stanford and Virginia are showing the most interest. Facilities, academics, and the football program will be key factors in his decision, which he hopes to make by the end of the summer.

Just bumping the thread. Going off of other posters and Brennan's comments, it seems that we are going after him as a TE.

6/9/09 (A little dated)
He has visited a lot of the schools near him, and planned on trips to UW and Stanford with Brennan (The Brennan article seems to imply that Cadogan came too, can anyone confirm?) At that point, Pitt, Stanford, and UW stood out.
Good to see we were already high on his list before the visit

New rivals article. Cadogan is up to 30+ offers. Would like to trim his list. Knows that Pitt, Wisconsin, Michigan State, and West Virginia will make his cut. Has only visited Pitt so far.

I like our chances as well. Obviously, Brennan is committed... and it may not matter much, but Pitt already has a TE verbaled (plus a big WR in Carswell) and TE Dan Schneider seems very interested in WV.

I still dont understand the lure to Pit, I am a Dolphin fan and I remeber distinctly what a horrible coach pornstache was.

Sherard visited Pitt for their barbecue this weekend. Had a great time, and seemed to like all of the coaches. Pitt wants him on the defensive line. Plans on UW, WV, and MSU for officials and maybe South Carolina too.
If distance becomes a factor, Pitt has a good shot. He mentioned that he liked that his parents could see him with a 4 hour drive

Scout.com: Cadogan Trims List to Six
8/6
By Matt Alkire. Sherard has his list trimmed down to Pittsburgh, Wisconsin, Michigan State, South Carolina, PSU (no offer), and West Virginia. PSU has told Sherard he is the #3 DE for PSU right now, that he should visit for a game and hold off on making his commitment. Pittsburgh is leading but Sherard says he has been there many times and has yet to visit some other schools...a lot can change and he plans to take official visits. Hopes to have his decision made toward the end of October.

Free update on Cadogan, posted a couple days before the newest though:
Jersey ATH to take official to USC > Palmetto Sports Recruiting News
Quote:
|
ATH Sherard Cadogan (6-3 230) of Cherry Hill, NJ has put USC in his top five and says he is anxious to visit Columbia on an official. "I definitely will take an official there," said Cadogan. "I've never been there so am really exicted about getting down there." Cadogan says USC is looking at him on the defensive side of the ball. "They want me to play a hybrid position in the 3-4," he said. "I like that idea because I do something similar to that now." He is also a big fan of G.A. Mangus. "Mangus has been recruiting me and is doing a good job," said Cadogan. He has over 25 offers including offers from USC, Michigan State, Minnesota, South Florida, East Carolina, Pitt, Wisconsin, and Temple. He says his top five are USC, Michigan State, Wisconsin, Pitt, and Penn State. "Penn State is showing a lot of interest but say they want to hold off on an offer. They want to get me in there for game," he said. Cadogan did not name a favorite. As a junior, he had 11 sacks and four interceptions.
|
I haven't seen film of him on the defensive side of the ball, but I thought as a tight end he was just average, and stats are more impressive defensively, so maybe that's where he projects better. Most other programs seem to be recruiting him as a DE, so hypothetically we could accept both he and Smith.
