The backfield mate of Xavier Whitaker is up to five offers and favors Indiana. Plans on visiting Cal and Stanford, and also thinks the Badgers may offer if he performs well at their one day camp.

Jeff recieved an offer from Wisconsin, and says that UW and Indiana are on top. Also states former and future recruits will not play a part in his recruitment and he will "do his own thing"
Looks good for UW, Also states he ran a high 4.4 40 at camp and a 4.37 agility.

I thought one of the backs from in state had to be offered eventually between Lewis, Whitaker, Marshall, Settle, Fuller, etc. I know a couple had their questions, but that's a deep pool. In fact the in-state class as a whole this year has proved very deep. What is that, our 9th offer to a Dairy Stater? It's usually around 6. And they may not be finished.
On another note, hand timing at Wisconsin events are a joke. Lewis ran a 4.63 a few months ago at the All American Combine. When they hold their pro days subsequent to the NFL draft combine, the times are always like 3 tenths faster. Didn't PJ Hill run around a 4.6 this year? Gimme a break. Whoever the stop watch operator is has pretty slow reflexes initially and then anticipates the finish.

Good article written by Marlin over at WSN about Lewis' offer by UW.
Badgers offer in-state running back
Fun quote about the offer:
Quote:
|
“I was the happiest I've ever been from receiving an offer,” he explained. “I yelled so loud when I called my dad. My interest level is extremely high for UW and I would say they're one of my top favorites.”
|
Congrats to the kid! He most definitely worked his butt off and earned the offer. He seems like a very appreciative and dedicated young man...the kind that will work his butt off for his team and teammates.
So, you guys think we add another back still in this class? From the oustanding offers, it would seem that the staff is approaching the RB position similar to the QB situation...likely 1 in-state and 1 out-of-state. I hope Settle cleans things up in the classroom too b/c I think there might be a spot for him if things don't get too full come signing day.

I wouldn't think you'd cross White off yet.

Lewis' commitment may be indicative of White's waning interest in the Badgers, but if not, they should continue to pursue him. He's too good of a talent to pass up, and one could convert to slot receiver, which we need.

The staff might want to add a shiftier-type RB anyway, if we take on another.

Yeah, I guess he is, kind of... it had been some time since I initially viewed his footage! You can't really tell what kind of hands he has in the video, but he does well to hold on to a couple of those pitches! It seems like Dawson is still interested though, but it seems like he still has a long way to go before deciding.

I'd definitely put Lewis in the shifty back classification. He has a bit of power as well. His style is like poor man's AD Peterson. That works for whatever a team needs. The only question about whether he could be a 3rd down back are his hands, because his receiving abilities are not showcased in the video. He has the burst and moves to be one.
