Gilbert on film looks like a fairly wide bodied kid. Though listed a good 25 pounds under 300 he still looks to have a thick build and should be able to add some more good size especially if he is as tall as listed. The size matters because he will likely fit best at the college level as a plugger type. He has a solid get-off though you would like to see him work on consistently getting off the ball quicker. Displays the ability to come out of his stance and generate power from his lower body. When he does that and shoots his hands he can stand up a blocker and hold his ground. He does though need to work on being more consistently active with his hands. When he is he can take on shed from blockers. He can though also be pushed off the ball when he gets tall and lets blockers get into him. He also needs to keep working on taking on the double team. Flashes the ability to play half-a-man and get into the gap. Really seems best plugging up a gap. He will get penetration at times, but displays adequate overall movement in some space. As a pass rusher he can collapse the pocket when he comes off the ball low and uses his lower body power. Gilbert displays the ability to be a good sized run stuffer.
