UW back in the New Jersey area

5/5/09

Rigg offered by the Badgers, and he is defintely interested. Plans on visiting over the summer or taking an official.

Nice to see us go back to the Northeast

It seems as though they are really trying to expand their base of recruiting. They have offers for guys in MD, SC, NC, CO, and CA as well as the usual suspects OH, MI, IL, FL, TX, PA, and of course in state. Hopefully that will pay off

Really needed to change their recruiting strategy. Need to recruit the Northeast. Not as many colleges recruiting the northeast. Sounds like we're making a name for our self in south florida.

Not to mention 7 of the 32 first rounders in this year's draft were from New Jersey.

In conjunction with what you mentioned, it'd be stupid to continue neglecting the area.

I disagree that there aren't a lot of colleges recruiting in the Northeast, and not just for obvious reasons. This year's draft was a statistical anomaly more than anything.

Of course, I'll let you know if I do start hearing about Wisconsin making a push again. It's early but I think Rigg will stay home.

You're really trying to make the hard sell that Wisconsin shouldn't return to the region, in spite of the fact that we had an immense amount of success there under Alvarez. Sounds like you're scurred we'll be back to stealing recruits from the Scarlet Knights again. The Badgers just can offer some things that Rutgers cannot. Like a better conference, bigger stadiums (I'm aware of the expansion), more notoriety, recent draft history, etc.

I'm not scared. Rutgers is going to win most of the matchups for local mid-level local prospects against mid-level teams from the ACC, Big East, and Big Ten. Just as those teams will probably keep most of their local mid-level prospects.

Rather, what I'm trying to get across is that New Jersey's talent is TERRIBLE this year. Going to Maryland makes perfect sense. It's loaded. This is is a historically bad year in New Jersey though. It's important to draw that distinction between NJ in general, and the Class of 2010. This isn't the year to throw your hat back in the ring.

As far as Wisconsin in particular goes, sending out offers is one thing, but I hadn't heard about them doing anything until the past few days. In contrast, Iowa has been here nonstop.

One major reason for the success under Alvarez because they had Palermo and Wyatt on staff. Who's going to open the doors now? For everyhing UW has to offer, people aren't going to hear that message.

We are no where close to being a major threat in NE again. We at least need someone devoted full time. Finally starting to lay strong inroads in South Florida though
