Does anyone think there is a chance he stays at Cincinatti?

"I didn't think it was a big deal, the de-commitment," former Gopher verbal David Gilreath said. "I think this was the best decision of my life."
"(The University of Minnesota) didn't really compare," UW Kicker Taylor Mehlhaff said. "I loved the atmosphere here. It was pretty easy to cross (Minnesota) off the list. I wanted to play at the highest level possible but I also wanted to have that college atmosphere."

"It was a good visit," Lakota West coach Larry Cox said. "There were times Alex told me they were playing four tight ends."
Smith's list of scholarship offers includes Wisconsin, Cincinnati, North Carolina, LSU, Michigan, Miami (FL), North Carolina State, Illinois, Indiana and Purdue.
The 6-foot-5, 225-pounder committed to Cincinnati during the winter, but it is not a done deal he will be a Bearcat. Smith has not de-committed, but at least two other schools appear to have a very realistic shot at signing him.
Cox feels Smith will ultimately decide from the trio of Cincinnati, Wisconsin and North Carolina.
"He expressed a strong interest in North Carolina, and Cincinnati still," Cox said.

Nothing too new, still committed to Cincy, but still has a top three of Cincy, UW, UNC. Was at the Cincy game last week, but has not scheduled any officials other than the UW game Sept. 5th

"I talked to (Wisconsin coach) Bret Bielema," Lakota West coach Larry Cox said. "He has said Alex is a big one for him. I know North Carolina is coming after him still pretty hard."

UK Football: Smith likes Cats: AMNews.com
[quote]Smith committed to hometown Cincinnati early before backing off that decision. He made an official visit to Wisconsin last week and the Badgers now appear to be the leader for him and have made him their No. 1 priority at tight end.
Alex Smith would like to finalize his college choice before his teams starts the playoffs. “But I also want to wait until my mind is fully made up,” he said. “I have a pretty good idea. Wisconsin is tops in my eyes. I will visit UNC. I am going to UK again. I will probably visit one or two other places.”[quote]

I hope he was watching today. I cant see how you could use your TE's more than UW did today. Its almost crazy that they keep missing out on thier TE targets since they have, almost unarguably, the most TE friendly O in the nation.

Smith will visit UNC this weekend, and is also planning on an official to Cincy. His coach also thinks he will end up taking a trip down to Kentucky as well. Seems that this is far from over

North Carolina making a move on TE Smith - ESPN
Today
Tight end Alex Smith (West Chester, Ohio/Lakota West) headed south for his second official visit this past weekend. Smith, who made an early commitment to Cincinnati but has been taking a look at some other schools, visited North Carolina over the weekend. "It went real good," Smith said. "The campus is beautiful. I had a lot of fun. I'm glad my mom got to go and got to see it. I visited there in the summer, but she hadn't seen it." At least for now, Smith said he remains committed to the Bearcats. However, he has now made official visits to Wisconsin and North Carolina and says both schools are in the running.

I wonder if a decision is going to be on the horizon, I believe his birthday is in a few days, and the fact that the playoffs are starting pretty soon.

A friend was on the same flight as Coach B on the way back from Cincinnati today. Maybe he was visiting Smith.
