That's awesome. I realize a lot of these offers and commitments seemingly come out of nowhere, but you would definitely be able to make a more educated guess than anyone, seeing as though you're a Wisconsin insider.

I saw Chris Prom on Tom Lemming's top 100 watch list, along with only 2 other Wisconsin players (Westphal and Konz), and I thought it might be a misprint. Good to see he does have legit D-1 interest at least. Echols, along with the other running back Sutton, and Hahn; I thought had become the forgetten men after being frontrunners for offers out of the gate.

There is a slight problem with Prom. He was receiving serious D1 interest and probably had a shot at a D1 offer, but he tore his ACL playing summer basketball and had surgery on it. He'll have to miss the entire football season with the injury. So the question is whether someone like a MAC school will take a chance on him, or if he'll slip down to a D1-AA or D2 school. The guy was getting looks from Wisconsin and Iowa before his injury, so it would be a pretty big steal for one of those smaller colleges.

Tough break. Hopefully he can sneak onto a MAC school late for his sake or maybe even as a preferred walk-on at UW. We could definitely still use DE depth, which we may not be able to satisfy with few schollies left.

Is anybody interested in Knudsen anymore?

There's still some interest there. The last time I spoke to him he said these schools had been in contact: Wisconsin, Air Force, Northern Illinois, Wyoming, Central Michigan, Western Michigan, Duke, Illinois, Cornell, North Dakota State, Georgetown, Brown, Princeton, Penn, Illinois State, South Dakota State, Yale.

I'm assuming the list of D-1 prospects you made was your prediction of who will receive scholarship offers. If so, do you have a list of players who are on the fringe to receive offers? Can I include your Wisconsin top 40 prospects or is that not free content typically on your site? And what's the current status with the Oak Creek program, and how much do you believe that's hurt the talent level the last two years. Like I've said before, I don't notice too much difference between this year and any other year. However, the elite type prospects are missing, and in years past, many of them came from Oak Creek. Depth may be effected a barely discernible amount as well.

Some of the players I perviously listed could be considered fringe players.

Basically check out this link for a list of the top overall players and top players by position: Wisconsin High School Football / Youth Football

Oak Creek should be a little better this year I guess. Coach Mike Bartholomew came over from Kenosha Bradford and he's a really good guy and coach. I don't think the Oak Creek program hurt the talent level at all. All they did was lure the best City Conference players, hype them up to colleges, and then watch as the scholarship offers came it.

Keep an eye on Arrowhead. They've been a traditional football factory over the years, but they have a lot of talent in the class of 2008 and 2009. Not all of it is D1 level, but they'll have a lot of kids playing college ball somewhere.

As far as top level talent...the state already has one All-American this year in Westphal. That's about normal. I wouldn't be shocked to see Nortman, Zeitler, or Konz invited to one of the smaller All-American games too.

Last year was just a REALLY good year with five All-Americans (Clay, Oglesby, Toon, Hagerup, Brunner).

I don't want to include anything that's not your opinion, since the original post carries your name. So I'll stick with what's there and include the top 40.

I don't know how much Oak Creek's players were hype. Beckum and B-Cal were certainly studs. The jury is still completely out on Hendo. He had such a small window at Tennessee. We'll see how he fares at Minnesota. I still think he could be pretty special...off the field issues aside. For Ando, it's tough to crack the Miami D-Line rotation. He still has a couple years to shine. Hopefully Reynolds can work things out so he even has an opportunity to prove himself. I think the state is definitely better off with a powerhouse like that. They were as close as we've had recently to Glenville.

Former Wisconsin prep star DL Rhyan Anderson transferred from the University of Miami to New Mexico State. Now he will get that opportunity to shine most likely, but will have to wait a year to do so, only has one more shot. He graduated from Miami with a Bachelor's in three years, so congrats to him on that, and good luck to him at NMSU!

Marlins, does Ward look like a possibility for a Wisconsin offer as a slow play? We could certainly use running backs and are still pursuing linebackers.

If he can make the offense-defense All American bowl, one would certainly think D1 offers are imminent. I would imagine it's a rarity that a player in that game doesn't get a free ride. High major D1 prospect?

Ward is in a tough situation since he had to sit out all of last season. Teams are waiting to see his first couple of games of film before they make a decision on him either way.

Right now he's getting interest from Michigan State, Purdue, and then some MAC schools.

I think he has a really good shot at getting a MAC offer. We'll see about anything bigger than that I guess. First few games will help determine it.
