I believe Deon is on the honor roll if im correct, he does no have any major character problems really unless you include normal stuff teens do as "problems" Racine is not a great place to live its gang infested depending on where you live around Park can be really bad, and i would say that for the 80,000 some people in Racine it is the worst area in Wisconsin.

That's good to hear (not that Racine sucks, but that McLean is doing well in school). If your reports are all accurate, and the issues off the field aren't too serious, I hope the Badgers keep an eye on him, and don't refrain from offering for the sole reason that they've invested too much time in other prospects at his position.

another kid too look out for would be Eric Ortell from Racine Lutheran he plays safety, linebacker, And RB, also a couple of JR's from Park would be.

McClain had another sick performance rushing for 328 yards and 6 TD's on just 19 carries.

Troy, do you talk to guy at all? If so, has he told you he's receiving attention from D1 colleges.

I'm sure he's at least getting interest from the UW extensions for his gaudy numbers alone.

not talked to him since the start of the year I could ask a couple of my friends on the park team however, also those numbers were all in the 1st half.

I should know whats up with Deon by tomorrow or Thursday, If were looking for a scat back Deon would be perfect and I really hope he gets an offer, I still find it hard to believe he is on no databases at this point with the monster numbers he's putting up for one of the top team's in state.

Cool. It would helpful if we also could view some video of the kid....even a few clips would improve my understanding of his skill level. McClain should pester Park's HC into compiling a reel of his first half highlights, which could be sent to different programs. If he waits until after the season it will be too late, if it's not already.

Marlins, do you have any insight on McLain?

At 3:20 it's actually the QB Stevie Morris housing one for a TD. I think you meant 3:50 instead. It's kind of tough to get a gauge of McClain given the angles and only one long run at which to look. Morris intrigued me more and according to Marlin he is receiving some high major interest: WSN If his reported 4.53 40 time is accurate and electronically timed then he has high major measureables for a free safety and possibly even a wide receiver. Playing quarterback in high school may result in the most popularity but it's not the best situation for his future. Has he played any FS or WR at Park? If not I wouldn't be interested from a Wisconsin perspective because we have a surplus of "athletes" already.

Like I said in the official season thread, I caught a little bit of the Racine Park-Milwaukee Riverside game on TV.

McLain was pretty impressive and he's definitely as good as or better than a lot of Florida or Texas athletes who are getting offers from mid majors and low-high majors. But I don't think he'd be a particularly good fit for a pro style offense. He needs a little space to utilize his burst and once he gets to the 2nd level he's adept at throwing the shoulder fakes and cutting outside while maintaining his speed. I could see him having success in a spread like Illinois'. Reminds me a bit of their current running back Daniel Dufrene. McLain didn't really excel when he had to avoid defenders in the backfield or make quick subtle cuts when Park ran I-formation.

Logan Wells, the backup from Riverside, is a sleeper and I'm interested in looking further into his high school career. I know he's been stuck behind some pretty good backs like Covington and Givens the past couple years, both of whom received D-1 offers. Maybe Riverside just prefers a smaller, quicker back for their offense. That doesn't mean that Wells isn't a D1 prospect in his own right. Impressive size/speed ratio, cutting ability for a man of his size (probably tantamount to Ball), and he's pretty strong.
