I've sung the praises of both Merrill and Cromartie, but both their biggest weaknesses are their ball skills. Merrill had trouble turning around and finding the ball in the spring game. Instead he's panicky grab his counterpart. I don't know if he was big interception guy in high school....maybe you know that info. Cromartie had a modest interception total, which may have been because other quarterbacks were intimidated, but I saw makeable interceptions on film that he botched. Devin Smith had a gaudy interception total but I don't know much will translate to college because he doesn't have recovery speed or quicks. Allen has the speed/quicks and if this weekend's performance wasn't an anomaly he'd fill the void.

Ive seeen the highlights of cromartie he is not an interception he constantly batted the ball down unless it was just telegraphed too him. The reason I say Merril is because of how great an athlete he is, which too me means if he can develop decent to good ball skills his athleticism should just take over. But your right we dont have any huge playmaker,

Valai hits hard, got beat a couple times aginst a very average Akron team.

Goins was pretty good but its to early too pass judgment on him.

Carter just got manhandled on that ball he should have picked.

Brinkley was okay he got beat a cople of times though I believe its was on a great catch I cant remenber.

Divulges that the in state Tigers have always been his favorite and he's been impressed with them early this season. It also helps that the basketball program would let him walk-on. Still maintains he's trying to keep his options open. Allen could decide any time during the season.

Allen is being recruited by Doeren as a WR for the Badgers. He states that the Badger sit highly with him and that if he were to name a top 5, that they would be included. He also reaffirms that he would like to play both basketball and football in college and that he would like to talk with Bo Ryan when he comes to campus. He is in the process of setting up his official, which will be either for the Penn State or Ohio State game.

I'd guess our chances of securing a commit from Allen are less than 5 percent. The Missouri program is hot right now and they aren't going to let many of their in-staters get away. Missouri has promised he can walk-on for basketball while Ryan is just about at his roster limit. Plus, he already mentioned that Missouri is leading, although leaders of course can change daily with some prospects.

Agreed. My bet is chances are more slim than 5% even, but who knows.

Oh well, still a good face to have on campus for an official and still nice to be mentioned. Recruitng buzz happens not only when good recruits commit, but also when good recruits are talking highly of your school and are being vocal about their interest. I like the mention and I like that he will visit.

Still intent on playing both football and basketball in college. Might have to go the D1AA route to find a school where he's projected to contribute in both. He's trying to set up a visit at Wisconsin and may do the same with Minnesota and Kansas. Will decide around the end of his season.

On Friday, Allen caught 9 passes for 148 yards and 3 TD's, while also returning a punt 66 yards for a TD.

He basically raved about his visit and stated that Wisky was very high on his list.. after reading some things he said I wouldn't be surprised at all if he committed.
