'09 Wisconsin Recruiting Cheat Sheet

Just a FYI of where we stand at various positions for recruits. This is a decent sized undertaking, so it may be a while before Bern and I get this completely on its feet. Also, if you see any names that are clearly missing let us know. Special shout out to the PSU guys for giving us the idea. With that said, here goes:

Committed: Currently committed to UW
High Interest: In the latest top 5 (or less)
Moderate Interest: Definitely in the mix, but uncertain where UW stands
Not Looking Good: Haven't been eliminated, but not in a listed top 5
Not Yet Offered: UW assumed to be the one of the leaders if we were to offer

Offense
QB: (Likely finished)
Committed:
'09 IL QB Jon Budmayr (UW Verbal)

RB: (Possibly finished, although Smith transfer may open door)
Committed:
'09 MO RB Montee Ball (Wisconsin Verbal)
Not Yet Offered:
'09 MI RB Hersey Jackson

WR:
Committed:
OH WR Jeff Duckworth (Wisconsin Verbal)
Not Looking Good:
http://www.recruitingplanet.com/forum/wisconsin-badgers/16606-09-il-wr-kraig-appleton-official-offer.html
- Committed to Illinois but will still take visits

OL:
Committed:
'09 MI OT Zach Matthias (Wisconsin Verbal)
'09 WI OL Ryan Groy (Wisconsin Verbal)

'09 MN OL/OT Casey Dehn (Wisconsin Verbal)
High Interest
http://www.recruitingplanet.com/foru...ial-offer.html
- Wisconsin and Nebraska are his top 2.
Reason To Be Optimistic:
'09 IL OT Patrick Ward (Official Offer)
- One of only a few OOS'ers who attended both Junior Day and the Spring game. Haven't heard as much about Wisconsin lately and all the O-Line offers may be a bad sign on the Ward front.
Not Looking Good:
'09 IL OL Chris Watt (Notre Dame Verbal)
UW not in most recent top 8
'09 OH OL Chris Freeman (Official Offer)
http://www.recruitingplanet.com/foru...ial-offer.html
http://www.recruitingplanet.com/foru...ial-offer.html
Not Yet Offered:
http://www.recruitingplanet.com/foru...n-lechner.html
- tried to commit to UW but his grades wouldn't allow. Now might be the odd man out.
'09 WI OT Alex Dietzen
'09 MO OG John Tabash
'09 IL OT Mark Zielinski

TE:
Committed:
'09 OH TE Brian Wozniak (Wisconsin Verbal)
High Interest:

http://www.recruitingplanet.com/foru...ial-offer.html
- Will choose between UW, Minnesota, and Ohio State. Proximity and use of TE's are two major factors working in our favor.
http://www.recruitingplanet.com/foru...ial-offer.html
- Constantly reiterating he loves the way we use our TE's. Only official visit this summer may be to Wisconsin. Wants to decide before season starts. Likely us or Pittsburgh.
Not Yet Offered:
'09 WI TE/DE Justin Juckem
- concussion at Wisconsin's camp, in conjunction with his broken leg during his regular season, may have sealed his fate.

Defense

DT:
Committed:
'09 WI OG/DL Jordan Kohout (Wisconsin Verbal)
'09 WI DT/OL Travis Frederick (Wisconsin Verbal)
Moderate Interest:
'09 FL DT Frankie Davis (Official Offer)
Not Yet Offered:
'09 WI DT Zach Anderson
- Will commit immediately to Wisconsin if offered. UW only has 1 DT scholarship left and they are testing the waters with Davis before pulling the trigger on Anderson.

DE:
Committed:
'09 WI DE Shelby Harris (Wisconsin Verbal)
Moderate Interest:
http://www.recruitingplanet.com/foru...ial-offer.html
http://www.recruitingplanet.com/foru...ial-offer.html
'09 OH DE Davon Custis (Official Offer)
Not Looking Good:
http://www.recruitingplanet.com/foru...ial-offer.html
- Grades are a substantial concern and UW has high standards. Not that we would have pried him away from the powers regardless.
'09 FL DE Kedric Johnson (Official Offer)
'09 AZ DE Craig Roh (Official Offer)
Not Offered:
http://www.recruitingplanet.com/foru...er-dippel.html
- Badgers wanted to test him at DE during camp and he reported passed w/ flying colors. But they'll probably only take 1 more DE and several OOS'ers are higher on the pecking order.
'09 WI DE Clay Gosse

LB:
Committed:
'09 OH LB Chris Borland (Wisconsin Verbal)
High Interest:
'09 TX DB Roderick Goodlow (Official Offer)
- Wisconsin was one of his favorites upon being offered, but since has said he's wide open. Most likely just posturing. Wants to decide before season starts.
Moderate Interest:
'09 FL LB Conor O'Neill
- in most recent top 3 alongside Wake and Auburn.....but wants to play baseball and we of course don't have that program.
http://www.recruitingplanet.com/foru...ial-offer.html
http://www.recruitingplanet.com/foru...ial-offer.html
- said he's impressed w/ what Wisconsin has to offer.
Enigma:
'09 TX LB Tanner Brock (Official Offer)
Not Looking Good:
http://www.recruitingplanet.com/foru...ial-offer.html
http://www.recruitingplanet.com/foru...ial-offer.html
http://www.recruitingplanet.com/foru...ial-offer.html
'09 TX LB Austin Moss (Official Offer)
Not Yet Offered:
http://www.recruitingplanet.com/foru...-aj-klein.html
- If Goodlow goes in another direction there's a good chance he's the next LB to be offered.
http://www.recruitingplanet.com/foru...ri-benton.html
- Could play up to 3 positions. Performed well at camp, but didn't get offered. Badgers are his favorite.
'09 OH LB Zakee Bashir

CB:
High Interest:
http://www.recruitingplanet.com/forum/wisconsin-badgers/16468-09-tx-db-demontre-hurst-official-offer.html
- Has a good relationship w/ Kerry Cooks.
http://www.recruitingplanet.com/foru...ial-offer.html
- Roommate and teammate of S prospect Darnell Taylor. Bet on a package deal. Originally favored Tulsa but Wisconsin has since taken a slight lead.
http://www.recruitingplanet.com/foru...ial-offer.html
- Top 3 along w/ Illinois and Cincy.
Moderate Interest:
http://www.recruitingplanet.com/foru...ial-offer.html
Not Looking Good:
http://www.recruitingplanet.com/foru...ial-offer.html
'09 FL CB Brandon McGee
- OSU, Tennessee, FSU, Florida, and UNC are his likely favorites.
Enigma:
'09 FL CB Jayron Hosley (Official Offer)
'09 FL CB DeAndre Byrd (Official Offer)
Not Offered:
'09 MO DB EJ Clark
- Wisconsin was named his favorite after camp visit. He also was at the Wisconsin spring game.

S:
Reason to be Optimistic:
'09 OH S Pat Hinkel (Official Offer)
- Wisconsin is his only D1 offer. Listed as a RB but probably projects better to free or strong safety.
http://www.recruitingplanet.com/foru...ial-offer.html
- Plans on visiting UW, Tennessee, WVU, and Louisville this July
Moderate Interest:
'09 TX S Darnell Taylor (Official Offer)
- Teammates and roommates of CB Marcus Trice. Bet on those two being a packaged deal as a result.
'09 FL S Vladimir Emilien (Official Offer)
- Favors OSU over Wisconsin, Notre Dame (sans offer), and Stanford.
'09 IA S Jordan Cotton (Official Offer)
Not Looking Good:
http://www.recruitingplanet.com/foru...ial-offer.html
Not Yet Offered:
'09 OH DB Wali Morris
- When I talked to him he said the Badgers were his favorite, but I got the sense he was just telling me what I wanted to hear. 90 percent chance he commits to hometown Cincy if offered.
'09 MN S Fritz Rock
http://www.recruitingplanet.com/foru...y-sanders.html
- As some have expected, his offer was verbal, and the staff plans on making a decision soon on whether to put it in writing

Per the scout article this morning, Kersey does not have an offer.

I also read your comments in the DeCicco thread. All hints are that he's a Pitt silent, and he's one of several who will go public soon.

DeCicco to my knowledge is making the trip to Illinois on Friday, which definitely keeps him in play. If he decides to swing by the Madison campus on his trip I wouldn't count us out yet, unless there is something swirling around that I haven't caught wind of

Good find on Kersey, I made the adjustments

Got the defense up. Where I am missing someone point it out, so it can be up to date for everyone

Troy, I checked their chart. Currently they have 23 commits, which is their maximum capacity in the interim. With standard attrition of 5 players )approx) from their current roster, so I'd guesstimate 28? Wadc, Grad, Hotmic, etc.; would obviously be in better position to answer that question.

Good looking out on the list Heavy. I'll make some recommendations for changes and additions in a bit. At first glance it looks pretty accurate though.

Decicco may end up at Pittsburgh, but I concur with Heavy when he categorizes him as high interest. He was clamoring for a Wisconsin offer throughout, then he receives it, and that makes his decision even easier to go elsewhere?? Also, he's constantly reiterating how important the team's recent tight end history is and who his coaches will be. Pitt has Darnell Dinkins to hang their hat on. Wisconsin has Owen Daniels. Pociask is also in the league. Beckum will be a 1st or 2nd round draft pick in a minute, after beginning his first season as a defensive end. Graham will be drafted. We develop and use our tight ends superbly. One would think between what he's said and we've done, he'd have high interest in Wisconsin.

I'd categorize Wilson as showing moderate interest in Wisconsin. All he's said thus far is he liked his visit, as he did all the others. The fact he's waiting so long indicates to me he's not fully comfortable with his current offer list.

Ward has been one of the few players who've attended both Junior Day and our Spring Game. He's also spoken highly of Wisconsin, although not as much of late. Maybe have a ca
