Yeah I didn't even bother with Appleton since we have no shot. The new guy has been added

No Muldoon at DE? He is in the inactive recruit forum so am I missing something? He seemed to like his trip to UW and UW was in his final 5/6 when he narrowed his list), Ohio State might not have room for him and while he seemed interested in ND I haven't seen anything definite.

At DT, is Zach Anderson worth noting? He (apparently) impressed at both the Wisconsin and Minnesota camps if what I've read is correct and he would fill an area of need at DT.

Muldoon was moved by Bernini, so he may be aware of things we are not. I would probably place him in the not looking good area.

Anderson I don't believe we have a profile up for as of yet, though he is worth noting

Muldoon grew up a big Buckeye fan and has an OSU offer in his pocket at the moment. All the OSU insiders here and at BP have stated he's a lock. I think he's just going through an experience he'll only have once in life before he makes his formality Buckeye commitment. At best he'd be in the Not Looking Good category like Heavy said. I can return his thread to our active listing if it's really important.

Especially these days when they're just cleaning up in recruiting, even for them. In '96 or '97 we stole Chris Chambers out of Bedford by way of Glenville. Since then, we haven't been able to extract an Ohioan with an official Buckeye offer. Daven Jones probably would have spurned OSU for Wisconsin because he idolized Chambers that much, but he picked Wisconsin before he gave himself a reasonable chance to earn other offers. Borland probably would have come here regardless because his ties to the program/city were so strong. But those are anomalies. Muldoon is pretty much your standard Ohio kid.

According to the Wisconsin State Journal Kyle Jefferson was offered by Ohio State after he comitted to UW. My understanding with Daven Jones is that if his grades were better Ohio State probably would have offered.

As to Frederick as a DT, I do think this makes the most sense, but all signs (at least according to the articles I read) seem to indicate BB wants him as a guard or center. Any update on this? This could be a case like Konz where he won't get moved later when BB finally knows who he will be able to bring in at DT. (especially if Brent Qvale commits who I suspect still has an outstanding offer despite the recent commits)

Casey Dehn (who I don't see listed yet on the Cheat Sheet) seems like another prospect who could end up at DT when is all is said and done.

Yep. But there is a substantial difference between a kid who has had an OSU offer from early in the process, and a kid who OSU tries to steal at the last minute. Some kids just want to honor their commitment once it's made. And when it's the 11th hour, kids don't have enough time to reassess their situation and change their mind unless they're huge homers.

He certainly was an OSU level talent. I think he would have picked UW regardless, but we'll never know.

Indeed, his versatility makes him an attractive prospect. He'll ultimately play where the Badgers need him and he'll be alright with it because he bleeds cardinal and white.

ESPN - Wisconsin looks outside its state borders - Football Recruiting

Quote:
The state of Wisconsin is not known for producing a large number of major college prospects. In a typical year, the Wisconsin Badgers will sign only about a half dozen players from their home state.

The 2006 Wisconsin Badgers' recruiting class contained six players from in-state, 2007 had five and 2008 had seven.

The state of Wisconsin's Class of 2009 is a bit weaker than usual. Bielema has offered a scholarship to just four senior in-state prospects, and all four have committed to the Badgers. Unless someone steps up and has a big senior season, Bielema will sign just those four prospects from his home state this recruiting season.

With it being a lean year in-state, Bielema has gone outside the state borders to land eight of his 12 commitments to this point. The headliners of the 12 prospects from out-of-state are quarterback Jon Budmayr from Woodstock (Ill.) Marian Central Catholic, tight end Brian Wozniak from Loveland, Ohio, and running back Montee Ball from Wentzville (Mo.) Timberland.

At this point the group of 12 Badgers commitments would rank in the middle of the Big Ten recruiting rankings. Where it ends up in the conference standings will depend for the most part on how many additional highly-rated out-of-state prospects Bielema can convince to join him in Madison.
