Zagzebski is widely considered the top overall prospect in the state of Wisconsin for the 2010 cycle. He's currently receiving interest from UW, Notre Dame, Iowa, Minnesota, Northwestern, and Iowa State. Although he grew up a Badger fan, Zagzebski will be open to all the schools who offer.

First, the good news for Zagzebski:
Colleges zero in on Everest linebacker | wausaudailyherald.com | Wausau Daily Herald

The Wausau area has produced its share of top level Division I college linebackers over the past dozen years. Konrad Zagzebski may be next.
It began with Wausau West graduate Chris Ghidorzi, who was followed by Wausau East's Mark Zalewski and Andy Crooks. The trend could continue with D.C. Everest's Zagzebski.
The 6-3, 225-pound junior has been drawing the attention of a number of major college programs after strong showings at the Nike camp in Columbus, Ohio, last spring and one-day camps at the University of Minnesota, University of Wisconsin and Northwestern University during the summer. Several college scouting services have him ranked as the top linebacker prospect in the state and some list him as the state's top overall prospect for the class of 2010.
While college coaches can't talk publicly about recruits, Zagzebski's high school coach, Wayne Steffenhagen, has no doubt he is deserving of the attention he is receiving.
"He's the real deal, no question about it," Steffenhagen said. "He's an outstanding person and very, very committed to wanting to be a good student-athlete. He's certainly about as talented a linebacker as we've had here. He's got good size, speed, strength and instincts. He's the total package as a linebacker."
Judging by the amount of mail Zagzebski receives, several big-name colleges tend to agree with Steffenhagen's assessment. Zagzebski gets daily e-mails and weekly paper mail from Big East, Big 12 and Big Ten conference schools in addition to Notre Dame, Stanford, Iowa State and Duke. Big Ten schools interested include Michigan, Minnesota, Iowa, Illinois, Northwestern and Wisconsin.
Whether he will follow in the footsteps of Ghidorzi, Zalewski and Crooks to Madison is yet to be determined. Ghidorzi and Zalewski had standout careers at linebacker for the Badgers. Crooks played well at linebacker as a true freshman before switching to tight end for the remainder of his career.
"It's definitely one of the top schools," Zagzebski said of Wisconsin. "But I'm not going to make a decision until I've seen everything."
He will get a chance to see the Badgers in action soon as he was invited to attend Saturday night's game against Ohio State at Camp Randall. He's also accepted invitations to games at Northwestern and Minnesota and was recently invited to Illinois.
"I don't know if I'll make it (to Illinois)," Zagzebski said. "But they've got good linebackers."
This winter, Zagzebski will likely be invited to Junior Day activities, when recruits can visit a campus and often attend a basketball game.
"If you get offered early, that's usually when they do it," Zagzebski said. "Once they make an offer, then you can do an official visit. I don't know for sure, but I think that's how it works."
Recruits can make five official visits, but can take additional unofficial visits.
Zagzebski said visits will just be a part of his decision-making process.
"Definitely my family and my coaches (will have an influence)," Zagzebski said. "Of course the school and the academics that go along with that."
Zagzebski's mother, Dana, attended graduate school at Wisconsin while his father, Dan, went to graduate school at Notre Dame. But both plan to let their son make his own decision.
Zagzebski admitted that he has dreamed of playing Big Ten football since he was little. He also is interested in pursuing a sports psychology degree.
"If everything works out, I'll play and come back to coach with a degree in sports psychology."

And now the bad:
Prep football: Everest dominates first half, turns back Marshfield | wausaudailyherald.com | Wausau Daily Herald

The victory was costly for the Evergreens, who lost star linebacker Konrad Zagzebski in the first quarter with a knee injury. Tight end Ryan Nyenhuis also has a leg injury, according to Steffenhagen.
"We're banged up and praying in regard to Konrad Zagzebski," Steffenhagen said. "It was an expensive victory for us."
