Wisconsin Scholarship Allotment
Note: Wisconsin can over-sign by 3, and they probably will close to the maximum because of all the attrition they experienced subsequent to last signing day. Also, probabilities are one or two more scholarship players will depart before Signing Day 2010. That means an unofficial, but more realistic projection for the # of scholarships available this cycle is around 24.

I thought or depth chart at defensive line was a little thin, but you forgot to mention Shuagnessy, which makes it look a little more managable to say the least.

Should the Freshman total be 18 instead of 17? I didn't notice that when I was making the page. I also note you're sort of counting Clay twice...

Wow, that's a pretty big oversight. Thanks for the catch. That would shrink the amount of schollies even more.

Mili, what I must have done was calculate the freshman class with Clay, and then either leave him on there or put him back. It's 17 without Clay. So the numbers still work out the same.

Any thoughts on adding Evan Millard to the 2007 recruit list?

Also, any thoughts putting an * next to Walker? I think 100.9 or something like that reported he was no longer with team.
Besides Clay we have rumors that Daven Jones and Nzegwu are having academic problems getting into the UW, so they may deserve special notes.
Same deal with Sherer & Tolzien after we had the rumor from wisconsin.scout.com that one QB would transfer and one would no longer be with the team (probably for 2008 though).

I've heard that Walker was dismissed so that would be a necessary alteration surely.
I dropped Clay after it was reported he couldn't qualify, and I won't change it back until there's confirmation that he has indeed qualified. I have heard the rumours about Jones and Nzegwu, but I've also heard they were solid. I'll give them the benefit of the doubt.
I hadn't heard those rumours about Sherer and Tolzien. I'm not sure where Tolzien would go because I don't truly believe he's a legit D-1 player. It's very realistic that Sherer will see the writing on the wall and transfer. I'll keep that in mind when estimating the final allotment for the class, but I can't change anything officially on the chart.

Not meant in a cold, unfeeling way, but; Marcus Randle El's injury translates to another scholarship for the 2008 class. Terrence Jamison's career is also finished. Also, Sean Lewis appears to be departing. I expect to see even more attrition before this class culminates.
Also, I've heard that Shelton Johnson might not be an actual commitment. I'm not sure how legitimate those rumours are.

Very nice job

The chart has been updated for the 2009 class, although a few corrections need to be made, i.e.: some redshirt freshmen should be in the sophomore column. Anderson is also a sophomore. DT Daniel Moore is a junior as a JUCO transfer, he's not a true freshman. I don't directly update the chart because it's hosted on another site, I only created the original version, and now I make recommendations on changes.

For everyone's information an update was made to the scholarship chart to reflect the recent changes within the program.
The scholarship total currently stands at 19. I expect that number to fluctuate up and down, mostly up, before the signing day.
I say the number could decrease because we're seeing an extraordinary (even for UW) # of walk-ons emerge as scholarship level players. I wouldn't be shocked if as many as three during that span were awarded free rides for the rest of the career, the most likely suspects being; Chris Maragos, Bradie Ewing, and JJ Watt.
But you know there will be even more attrition like always. A couple of players will transfer because they don't see playing time any time soon, a guy will get dismissed for unforeseen personal problems (ala Thorson, Smith), 2-3 5th year seniors who aren't contributing won't be asked to return, and finally on average you'd expect one decommit from your early list.
Extra variables are Dehn potentially greyshirting and the program over-signing by one.
About 13 new players will be signed in addition to the ones already committed.
