Favorite Commit thus far?
I'm wondering if any of our members want to weigh in on who has been your personal favorite UW commit thus far.
For me personally, I'm a big fan of in state linebacker Mike Taylor. He's an extremely underrated player who many of the respected Wisconsin high school experts believe is the best player to come from the state for the '08 class (which is not as weak as billed). Taylor combines everything needed to be a successful linebacker at the college level. He has pretty ideal height and weight (6'2, 205) for a linebacker prospect of his age, so he should develop naturally, physically. He has good speed for a linebacker. He has the insticts for the position. And finally, he has been a very productive player for Ashwaubenon. Yet he's 2 stars Rivals, and 3 on scout. Stars aren't everything...especially this early.
Honorable Mention: WI OG Kevin Zeitler, FL DB Kevin Claxton
Thoughts?

Not a Badger fan, but I like both Jake Current and Jake Byrne, who are a couple of guys who flew under the radar of the "major" programs, but who should develop nicely up in Madison.

Very interesting
He would skyrocket immediately to the top of my list.......hypothetically speaking of course.

I'll still stick to our previous discussions Re: tOSU offer = tOSU commitment.
However, right now it looks as if the Buckeyes will pass on Isaiah...and Wisconsin is looking good to him.

Really....I just don't see it. On his video he seems to lack "suddenness" out of his stance to be a speed type rusher, and he plays too upright to have the leverage to be a SSDE. Unless they see him as a tight end. I haven't seen him there. He went to Iowa's, Iowa State's, and Kansas' camp I believe; and didn't receive an offer.

Not a Badger fan, but Wes Kemp is a stud. Still can't believe the kid is only a 3* on Rivals.

I should also acknowledge that I'm pretty impressed with what I've seen out of QB Curt Phillips and DE Tyler Westphal. I'm not really floored by anybody in the '08 class thus far, but there's a solid group who I believe will be plus starters at the next level. Six stand out in: Kemp, Claxton, Phillips, Zeitler, Taylor, and Westphal.
Players who I'm not as impressed in: Davison, Marti, and Cromartie. Maybe Cromartie has potential as a safety, but for me his ball skills and unwillingness to cover tightly even at the high school level, are a concern. Davison I explained. With Marti I'm always leery of sleepers in traditional recruiting states. How don't they get noticed by more teams. There are exceptions, but probability for success is low. Texas has been a black hole for the Badgers the last 5 years (I'm optimistic about Goins thought). So by the same token I'm a bit concerned about Shelton Johnson.

Wow...no love for my boy. I still really like Davison. Are you going by film or by his (lack of an) offer sheet. His technique may not be that great right now but I love the way he tries to behead QBs. You can't teach that kind of nasty. He looked solid at the Columbia combine.
I also like Konz an awful lot. No Josh Oglesby's in this class but plenty of 4-star-worthy talent. Konz, Kemp, Westphal, Schafer and Hubbard are all 4-star guys to me.

I'm basing my opinion on underwhelming video highlights and reports. Like I said, he plays ridiculously upright, lacks suddeness, and the video looks like it's in slow mo with how fast he reaches the QB. He went to camps at both Iowa and Iowa state I believe, and both were reportedly disappointed or received a luke warm impression at least. Iowa State was aware of him as a prospect, but deemed him not even worthy to receiver an offer from the Cyclones as an in state prospect. Iowa State!

And yet IowaPreps insiders called him the prospect whose stock rose the most this past summer. He strikes me the kind of kid who could have a senior highlight reel that is impressive...one where you can watch the tape and see the difference between his junior year and senior year.
