I'm curious as to why you preferred him instead of DeCicco because on film I saw a guy who faded further down the field when the ball was in the air instead of posting a DB. He never seemed to sit in the zone and become a safety net for the QB like a TE should. Also, he never disguised himself as a blocker and then stealthily slipped out of the backfield like a TE should. Use some deception if you're at the line of scrimmage and it's an option. I didn't see the instincts necessary to be a good TE/WR. He's been more productive as a linebacker his last 2 seasons. As a coach you can go one year without seriously addressing a position, not landing a legitimate high major starter. But when you ignore/struggle at the same position for two straight cycles, it begins to become a problem, i.e.: defensive line (06 Bielema didn't address after landing the job, 07, 08 DT's at least), safeties (06, 07, 08), wr's (06, 07 to an extent, 08), quarterback (06, 07). We could be creating the same situation at tight end unless Byrne surprises me personally a bit. I'd project him as an Andy Crooks level TE.
