THE WEINGART REPORT
NAME: Jordan Weingart
SCHOOL: Buchholz
CITY: Gainesville
POSITION: OL
HEIGHT: 6-2.5
WEIGHT: 280
40 TIME: 5.2 (Reported)
HEAD COACH: Jay Godwin
SCOUTING WEINGART: When you evaluate a lineman, especially at the high school level, it's important to try your best to project what the athlete will be like when he matures, puts on more weight and gets stronger. While it's true with just about every position that you analyze, it seems that predicting the future of a lineman takes a little bit more knowledge and feel for what the future holds.
Jordan Weingart is the kind of lineman who everyone strives to be. A very quiet young man off the field, his actions on the field is what colleges simply cannot ignore. He goes from whistle to whistle, and if you happen to be going against him, you had better be ready to play an entire game.
It's not enough that he has learned the proper technique to drive and pass block, but this an athlete who has a quick first step, controls your upper body and seldom will be outworked!
A prototypical guard, there were several plays we watched when he was knocked off his feet at the start of the play, only to recover and make a key block some 15-20 yards up field. That desire and ability to compete until the play is over has college coaches watching his every move.
One of the best things about his play as a run blocker is his ability to get out and pull. This is not just a big guy playing the position. He is quick and strong and often makes your life tough. His traps on running plays are as crisp as you get. He also will pancake his opponent into the ground to keep holes wide open!
Make no mistake; this is a top 100 player in Florida – without question. If you understand the offensive line position, you know just how to appreciate a young man like Jordan, who continues to make major strides in a program that has long set standards with top players.
WEINGART WINNERS: Not only was this impressive student athlete a first team All-State performer last season, and third teamer as a sophomore, but he was also recognized by Florida Football Magazine last season as one of the top players in the region and also on our pre-season watch list that included over 2,000 Class of 2009 prospects.
Weingart was also invited on unofficial visits to Georgia Tech, Florida, Duke, Syracuse, Miami and Rutgers. His 3.75 grade point average is also one of the major selling points.
A member of the Bobcats' weightlifting program, Jordan recently had a Military Press of 280 pounds.
WHAT THE COLLEGE RECRUITERS ARE SAYING: "If you really know about football and how to evaluate linemen, this is someone who simply has everything you are looking for. He combines tremendous strength and balance with the ability to out-think his opponent."
HIS BAGS ARE PACKED: Among the programs on the radar screen include Duke, UCF, West Virginia, South Florida, Miami and the hometown Florida Gators.
