Who will be 2008's football stars? | Inside Preps

Quote:
Rantavious Wooten, Glades Central, WR Wooten (6-1, 190) was one of several players to try their hand at quarterback under coach Willie Snead last season, but new boss Jessie Hester has shifted him to full-time wide receiver for the 2008 campaign. Receiver is a much more natural spot for Wooten, who caught four passes for 128 yards and three touchdowns in the Raiders’ spring game. He said he has been offered scholarships by Miami, Michigan, Georgia, West Virginia and Arkansas, among others.
ESPN

Quote:
Wooten is this teams' quarterback for the majority of the time, but also sees duty as a wide receiver which is where he will end up at the collegiate level. He possesses adequate size, a lean build and good open field run skills. Uses his legs a lot from the shotgun and has some running back-type skills as well. A shifty runner with good balance and body control. Shows very good vision and displays good burst through the line once he finds a crease. He shows adequate-to-good acceleration once he reaches the second level. As a receiver, Wooten catches the ball in-stride and is fluid turning upfield. Stays focused and makes tough catches in traffic. Shows consistent hands. Catches the ball away from frame and isn't going to drop many passes that should catch. Is quick and displays good change-of-direction skills. Knows how to find soft spots in zone and is not afraid to go over the middle. Is very effective on short, underneath routes and bubble screens where he can use his run after catch skills and make things happen. We are not sure Wooten is overly polished right now because he has not settled in at one position yet. Needs work as a route runner and may not have elite speed-- is quicker than fast. Overall, Wooten is a very good athlete and can play a lot of roles. He is a solid prospect.

"I camped at LSU and it was great," Rontavious Wooten said. "I like the fans there and the coaches are great. They are like second fathers. They love to teach you and give you advice. I'm being recruited by (defensive line) coach Earl Lane and he said that I would be able to play right away there and that they would definitely get the ball in my hands." Wooten said he now slightly favors LSU.
