Prep Report - Hillsborough Sports - from TBO.com Blogs

Quote:
Hillsborough senior-to-be Lindsey Lamar picked up his eighth college scholarship offer Wednesday when Wake Forest joined the list of schools trying to lure the multi-talented athlete.

The Demon Deacons are seeking Lamar as a football player, as are Boston College, the University of South Florida, Richmond University and Delaware. Despite coming off a serious knee injury, Lamar led Hillsborough with 980 yards last season.

Meanwhile, Florida State, Georgia and UCLA are hoping to lure Lamar as a track athlete. Lamar finished fourth in the Class 3A state finals of the 100-meter dash and his wind-aided time of 10.35 from his victory in the regional finals remains one of the fastest marks in the nation this season.

From the Wake site. Lamar claims offers from Wake Forest, Duke, USF, West Virginia, FSU, Michigan, Louisville, Boston College and Iowa State. Wake Forest is his clear leader, as he likes that it is a private school and how they use smaller RB's in their system. Academics, early playing time and campus life will be big factors in his choice.

Wake in the lead for Lamar

Quote:
Hillsborough running back Lindsey Lamar.

Michigan is the latest to offer a scholarship.

Wake Forest has taken the lead in the fight for his services.

Lamar, whom SuperPrep rates as the state's 63rd-best senior prospect, now lists Wake Forest, Michigan and USF as his top three at the moment. Here's what he had to say about each ...

Wake Forest: "They like small, fast, backs. And I like the fact it's a private school. That means they'll be less people in the classroom."

Michigan: "I like the coach up there and everything about him."

USF: "It's home. I went to a camp there one time, and I liked the way they practiced."

Lamar hopes to take official visits to each school. He already has one planned for Iowa State in October. Additionally, he is weighing scholarship offers for track from Georgia and UCLA (He's a sprint standout, too).

"I want to go somewhere I can do both," Lamar said.
