Collins has narrowed his choices down to Penn State, Virginia, Virginia Tech and West Virginia. He's in no rush to make a decision.

By Farrell...has not narrowed his list but want to do so before the season and take some officials...however, does not rule out committing whenever he says it feels right.

Inexperienced defensive end getting big interest -- dailypress.com
Quote:
Collins, who has gained 50 pounds in the past two years, has garnered plenty of attention from colleges. He's considering offers from Virginia, Virginia Tech, West Virginia, Tennessee, Penn State, Illinois, Boston College, Maryland, North Carolina State and North Carolina.
If his summer visitation schedule can be used as any kind of indication, it may be hard to drag him out of Atlantic Coast Conference country. He went to camps or visited U.Va., Tech, N.C. State, Maryland, UNC and Penn State. He visited U.Va. on the weekend of Aug. 29 for the game against Southern California, but hasn't visited any other schools yet this season. He also went to a camp this summer at West Virginia with his teammates from the Stafford high school.

Stafford (Va.) Brooke Point defensive end Lanford Collins wasn't sure Penn State would be an option at this point. But he found out over the weekend the Nittany Lions remain interested.
"I talked to coach (Bill) Kenney," Collins said. "He had told me in December they only had one or two scholarships left and if I waited until the end of January they might be gone. But over the weekend he said a couple guys went into the NFL draft and now they have a couple openings."
