From the VaTech site. Becton is getting ready for the shrine bowl, and says that he has talked to some recruits who are interested in the same schools as him. He is considering Virginia Tech, and will visit South Carolina and Alabama in January

Becton Makes His Decision

By Phil Kornblut
DL Nic Becton (6-6 291) of Wilmington, NC committed Sunday to Virginia Tech. "On my official visit (last weekend) I felt like it was the right place for me," Becton said. "I took a week to think about it and called the coaches today." Becton was an offensive lineman in the Shrine Bowl but said the Hokies recruited him for defense. He also took an official visit to NC State and had visits planned for USC and North Carolina. He said he will not take any more visits and is firm with his commitment.

Defensive tackle commits to Virginia Tech -- dailypress.com

Nick Becton, a 6-foot-6, 285-pound defensive tackle from New Hanover High in Wilmington, N.C., became Virginia Tech's 23rd commitment Sunday for its 2008 football recruiting class.

Becton turned down scholarship offers from N.C. State, Alabama, Penn State, South Carolina, Clemson, Maryland and East Carolina. Many recruiting analysts considered Becton one of the nation's top 50 offensive tackle prospects, but he projects as a defensive tackle at Tech. He's the first defensive tackle recruit to commit to Tech this year.

Feb. 6 is the first day recruits can a sign a letter of intent with a university. Tech has three additional commitments from players who signed a letter of intent last February, but had to attend prep school.
