Florida FB

1/3

Quote:
Like so many talented football players in this state, here is yet another one that Floridafb.com has had on our radar for over two years now.

He was among the top 25 players listed in the Florida Football Magazine as elite stars to watch for this past season, and we certainly were on the mark.

Today, IN THE HUDDLE takes you back to the Tampa area to check out one of the fastest rising defensive talents in the state of Florida, and will certainly become a national recruit by the start of the 2008 season.

IN THE HUDDLE has taken you to practice sessions in Milton, pre-game workouts in Quincy, and camps and combines from Lake Worth to the the Tampa area where Giddins and his impressive teammates will once again be back in the mix in 2008.

THE GIDDINS REPORT
NAME: Ryne Giddins
SCHOOL: Armwood
CITY: Seffner
POSITION: DE
HEIGHT: 6-4
WEIGHT: 225
40 TIME: 4.66 (Reported)
HEAD COACH: Sean Callahan

SCOUTING GIDDINS: After watching this talented football player compete since his sophomore seqason, there is little doubt that he will become one of the elite players in the Sunshine State once again during the 2008 season.

He combines strength, quickness, athletic ability and football skills to become a top prospect.Although we have had the pleasure of watching him live on several occasions in games and at camp settings, you are always impressed at the things that he does when the film is not focusing on his every move.

This is a total team player who often gets double teamed, opening the way for his teammates to make the headlines. When he is matched against a tight end or tackle, his quickness and strength are evident. He plays off blocks as well as any of the top defensive end prospects we have watched over the past few years.

His knowledge of the game is impressive. On a series of plays, he is always around the ball. Whether it's a running down or one that the opposition attempts to pass, he is there either making the initial hit or finishing off the plays.

This is a football talent who has gotten bigger and stronger, matching himself up against the best around

Standout linebacker Petey Smith and defensive lineman Ryne Giddins each have collected more offers than Callahan can count. The list of schools reads like a who’s who of college football programs - with the likes of Florida, Florida State, Miami, Ohio State and Tennessee all in the mix. But those aren’t the only juniors who are getting looks.

Callahan also noted there has been increased interest in quarterback Mywan Jackson, safety Angelo Hadley and linebacker Casey Callahan, the coach’s son. All are being looked at by various Division I programs, Callahan said.

Petey Smith said Auburn coach Tommy Tuberville was at Armwood’s campus within the last few weeks and extended an offer to him, as well as an offer to junior defensive back Angelo Hadley and junior defensive lineman Ryne Giddins. It is one of many offers Smith has collected from a major Division I program.

Petey Smith said the trio of Hawks standout junior defensive players have at least discussed the possibility of heading to Auburn together. How serious they were in those discussions remains to be seen.

Prep Report - Hillsborough Sports - from TBO.com Blogs

Armwood standout defensive lineman Ryne Giddins recently picked up what could be his biggest scholarship offer yet: an offer from national power Southern California.

Giddins said Wednesday morning that USC pulled the trigger within the past two weeks, joining a long list of offers for the Hawks rising senior that includes many of the nation’s top programs - Florida, Florida State, Tennessee, Miami, Auburn, North Carolina, USF, Rutgers, Vanderbilt and Louisville are a few.

Giddins also said he’ll narrow down his choices to a list of six sometime between the end of June and beginning of July. He wouldn’t budge on giving insight as to which programs would make the cut, but from the sound of Giddins, USC and USF figure to be two.

Giddins has been very impressed with the hometown Bulls - from the athletic facilities (which is the best he’s seen), to the coaches and to the chance to play in Raymond James Stadium. But, where the Bulls staff is making its mark is in the attention they’re showing toward the four-star prospect, who was recently rated the nation’s No. 98 prospect by Rivals.com.

“That means a lot to me because it shows they want me real bad,” Giddins said. “Any other school can do the same thing, but they’re not.”

Giddins, and the rest of the Hawks players, will head to the University of Central Florida (another program that has offered) for a football camp next week. Giddins also will make an unofficial visit to North Carolina sometime in the next month.

Giddins added teammate Mywan Jackson, the Hawks’ rising senior quarterback, recently picked up an offer from Auburn, meaning Armwood’s top four prospects all have an offer from the Southeastern Conference school. Giddins, defensive back Angelo Hadley and linebacker Petey Smith, who is at Auburn this week with his brother, Eric, previously had been offered by the Tigers.

From the UNC site. Giddins had a great visit to North Carolina, and talks about how much he loved the campus and the staff. The visit has put UNC into Ryne's top five list along with Auburn, Clemson, USF and USC. He plans to take official visits to all five.

Rivals.com Football Recruiting - Giddins added to Army AA Bowl East roster (free)

Quote:
SEFFNER, Fla. - This is a special time for Ryne Giddins. He's one of the most sought-after defensive end prospects in the nation and he plays on one of the top high school teams in the country. Giddins was announced to play in the U.S. Army All-American Bowl on Thursday.

"This is a dream come true," Giddins said. "I have wanted to play in this game for a few years now. I am blessed. God put it in my hands. This game means a lot to me and it's just a great feeling."

Giddins, a member of the Rivals100, is the No. 4-ranked weakside defensive end prospect in the nation. Aside from being an outstanding defensive lineman, Giddins is a good role model as well as a model teammate.

"Ryne embodies what the U.S. Army All-American Bowl wants in their players," Armwood head coach Sean Callahan said to the packed crowd in the auditorium. "He has great character and is a great reflection of this school. Ryne does everything the proper way and he's humble. We are so proud to have him here (at Armwood)."

Giddins is considering South Florida, Florida, Florida State, North Carolina, USC and LSU. He has already taken an official visit to Chapel Hill and he's looking to take a few more before making his decision during the U.S. Army All-American Bowl.
