Employed in a lot of nickel and dime pressure packages showing good blitzing and attacking skills off the edge. Great first-step quickness and acceleration. Sells out his body and initial quicks in the short-area allows him to pack the punch of a much bigger defender. As a pass defender, he closes the cushion fast in zone schemes showing good quickness and explosion out of his pedal. Smooth movement skills, loose hips and great lateral foot-quickness allows him to mirror receivers effectively in off-man and shadow tightly in and out of their breaks. Good transitional quickness and deceptively stong plant and drive skill supporting on the perimeter. Pursues well through traffic and has a great nose for the football. Good tackler and is very sound breaking down in the open field. However, he often appears quicker than fast and struggles recovering when beat on vertical routes. Ability to press and reroute bigger college WRs is a concern as well. Overall, Trice may be limited to certain schemes at the next level but this kid can certainly play and add depth in a variety of packages. Might be better suited in underneath zone schemes with his ability to set the edge versus the run and quickly jump routes defending the pass. Great coverage skills in the kicking game add to his upside.
