For a football player, receiving that first college scholarship offer is akin to getting one’s first bicycle as a kid—it’s a huge deal. That’s the way it felt for Denton (Texas) Guyer DT Taylor Bible, who received one from Baylor. The 6-foot-3, 280-pound also has received heavy interest from schools like Oklahoma, Oregon, Texas Tech, Texas, Tennessee, LSU and Alabama.

“My hands were shaking when I got my first offer,” Bible told Sporting News Today. “My old coach, my tight ends coach who went to a new school, called me one morning and told me … It came in the mail.”

Other in-state schools interest Bible, of course. He told SN Today that Texas is scouting him heavily, wanting to see how his entire junior season shakes out. Bible camped at Texas this past summer, and they are currently evaluating him. He said he’s gotten a lot of those “white letters with red letters” from Texas Tech, too. And he was a visitor to Oklahoma when the Sooners dismantled Texas Tech recently.

He’s receiving attention from a lot of the country’s top programs, but he hasn’t lost his humility.

“I don’t dwell on the positive stuff, because I don’t want to get a big head about things,” Bible told SN Today. “I look at the stuff I do wrong and try to do better at that. I know even when things are going OK, I’m still probably messing up something small, at least. … I know in the Dallas-Fort Worth area, there are a couple of really good defensive tackles, so there is competition. So I’ll try even harder to get better.”

From the Texas site. Taylor committed to the Longhorns while visiting this weekend. He hadn't planned on giving a verbal, but says he felt really comfortable there and that the staff sold him on the program.
