New USC assistant coach Ray Rychleski has taken over the recruiting for one of the Gamecocks' top targets in North Carolina, ATH E.J. Abrams-Ward (6-5 225) of Thomasville. Rychleski will handle a good portion of North Carolina and has recruiting ties in the state dating back to his days at Wake Forest. Abrams-Ward will make his official visit to North Carolina this weekend and will go to Tennessee on the 18th. He also plans to set dates with USC and Boston College. Abrams-Ward still has the Tar Heels and Vols at the top of his list. "They are still strong," he said. He made an unofficial visit to USC the weekend of the Florida game.

Abrams-Ward Visits UNC

By Phil Kornblut
ATH E.J. Abrams-Ward (6-5 215) of Thomasville, NC made his official visit to North Carolina over the weekend. "It was great," he said. "I liked the life of the campus. The players are a great group of guys." Abrams-Ward did not commit and he will visit Tennessee this coming weekend. He does not have any other visits set but is looking at Boston College for a trip. USC had been one of his planned stops but he's taken the Gamecocks off the list for now. New Gamecock assistant Ray Rychleski is now recruiting Abrams-Ward for USC and plans to see him this week in an effort to get him in for a visit. Abrams-Ward does not claim a favorite.

Abrams-Ward says UT is in final three : Football Recruiting : GoVolsXtra.com

Quote:
Abrams-Ward said UT, North Carolina and South Carolina are the three finalists for his services. Abrams-Ward has already taken an official visit to North Carolina, but said he’s still considering whether or not to take an official trip to South Carolina.

If Abrams-Ward doesn’t take that official visit to Columbia, UT and North Carolina would have to be considered the favorites. Abrams-Ward said he’d like to announce his decision within two weeks.
