Five A Factor With Gilmore
By Phil Kornblut
ATH Stephon Gilmore (6-2 195) of South Pointe is spending most of his summer focusing on getting ready for his senior season according to his coach Bobby Carroll. He has visited USC and Clemson and he attended a camp at Alabama. Those three are in the mix for Gilmore, according to Carroll, along with Tennessee and Ohio State. Carroll said Gilmore might take a visit to Ohio State this summer.

ATH Stephon Gilmore, is a USC target as well, and Holmes hopes his decision will influence his friend to join him. "He told me South Carolina and Alabama are his top two," Holmes said. "He'll probably wait it out." Last season Holmes caught 44 passes for 988 yards and five touchdowns.

From the Clemson site. Gilmore took a visit to Clemson with Holloman this weekend and says that everything went well. He got to talk to the coaches and see how he would fit in if he ended up with the Tigers.

Gilmore Names His Top Five
By Eric Guimaraes
DB Stephon Gilmore (6-2 195) of South Pointe has narrowed his list to five schools. He plans on taking official visits to all five. They are USC, Clemson, FSU, Tennessee, and Alabama. Gilmore had a chance to visit both Clemson and USC practices last week and liked both. He feels he has a good opportunity to play early at both schools. "I got a chance to see who I would be competing against (at both schools) and I think I could play early." He enjoyed his visit to USC and says it gave him a chance to get to know the coaches better. " Coach (Ellis) Johnson is a good guy. He's straighforward with you. He told me he likes me because I'm a big cornerback. A lot of the backs they have now are smaller than me." He echoed that remark about Clemson. "Their coaches seem nice and I think I could play early. They have a couple of seniors that will be leaving." Gilmore says highschool teammate and Clemson commit Devonte Holloman is always in his ear about becoming a Tiger. Not to be outdone, Gamecock commit Damario Jeffrey of Columbia High School is in contact with him about going to USC. "He (Jeffrey) texts me almost every single day. He says we can be the first to do a lot of things there." Gilmore thinks his team has a great chance of winning the state championship this year and plans to announce his commitment that weekend. "It doesn't matter if they play in Columbia or in Clemson. That won't affect my decision." He plans to go to the USC/Georgia game in Columbia and the USC/Clemson game at Death Valley. Gilmore is graduating early and intendes to enroll in January. He does not have a leader.
